    6. Stupid comment because he’s a gain plan and when moshiach comes he will likely sit on the sanhedrin.

    7. Which one of the two Rav Yitzchak Yosefs will be on the Sanhedrin?

    1. Yep, Rav Betzalel Zolty zatzal (shver of Rav Yehoshua Eichenstein shlita) was also the Chief Rabbi of Yerushalayim for the Rabbinate

  3. Rishon letzion is not necessarily tzioni He risked his job and also almost went to jail a few times for his kaanus

  4. Its not about learning its about rabanut hatziyonit which was always treif by gedolei yisroel! Besides Eretz Yisrael has bigger talmidei chachamim and matbitzei torah who don't get the kavod he is receiving!
Also his whole claim to fame is that he is rishon letzion which is designated by therabanut hatziyonit. This trip is not about his greatness. Not sure why the tzibur of bnei torah in Lakewood need to pay attention to such rabanim.

    1. i was just telling this to all the guys in my neighborhood who do bike4chai. Even though its hot outside, you should wear normal pants that don't show everything. Really ridiculous that the tznius for men is not addressed more in this town

  7. 1. Rishon Letzion is a post that predates the Zionist entity, as well as the Volozhin Yeshiva.
    2. The idea that the Rabbanut was 'treif' is just not true. The respect Rav Kook of the Rabbanut received, from people who bitterly opposed his opinions, was unsurpassed.
    3. States aren't treif. Aveiros are treif. The State of Israel is evil when it commits evil. It's Rabbanim are not evil.

    1. The issue that arises is when Rabbanim are beholden to a secular Zionist State which has destain for the Torah hkdosha r'l they are not at liberty to implement הלכה. Ultimately, either they leave the Rabbanut or yield to the governments whims r'l

      Delete
    2. Rav Kook died in 1935 before the establishment of the state
      Rav Herzog succeeded him

  8. And btw, yes the state is Chazar trief!

  9. R Yosef C Sonenfeld was also chief Rabbi but not appointed by the garbage Rabbanut

    1. Rav aZonnenfeld was Chief Rabbi of Yerushalayim, not of Palestine (as it was called at the time).

      Delete
    2. No, Rav Sonnenfeld was chief Rabbi of one small kehilla in Jerusalem. Reb Shmuel Salant's position was inherited by Rav Kook.

      Delete
    3. Basically incorrect. The position was vacant for a decade. Some activists cajoled him to come take a new Mandatory position in order to replace the vacancy.Even he wasn't so sure he belonged there

      Delete
    4. R'Sonnenfeld on the other hand was accepted as Rav.
Though it was very belated, which was because he was hungarian in the predominantly non- hungarian old yishuv

      Delete
    5. Rav Sonenfeld was not accepted by those who appointed Reb Shmuel Salant and Reb Chaim Berlin. Kolel Vilna was the one who appointed the Rabbanim.

The Hungarians were always azus peinimer to Reb Shmuel Salant, and they finally opened their own Kehilla called the Edah Charedis. But that was a breakaway Kehilla.

The Mosdos that appointed the Rabbanim previously appointed Rav Kook, who was considered a world-class Gadol until he threatened the money sources of the Hungarian Shomrei Hachomos.

    6. Overly slanted.Interestingly if the whole issue was hungarian vs Russian how was the compromise candidate recommended would have been R YM Charlop?

      Delete
    7. That was after Rav Kook was niftar. And many Gedolim worked hard that he shouldn't be chosen by the Rabbanut, because they didn't want Rav Kook's shitos to continue. Even though they held of him greatly as a person.

    8. Incorrect. As it was earlier. For the perushim

  10. Wouldn't likely go that far either, but would he-or wouldn't he-have been invited except for that he was recently official representative of a still secularizing entity?

    1. Likely yes. Huge tc, ben shel tc. Keyaduah.

    2. I guess you can ask the same question of other rabbonim who were just here. Were they invited because they are the decision makers for an influential political party or because they are roshai yeshivos?
