Agudah chairman's take:
he days after Shavuos ushered in a week bursting with achdus, the spirit of ke'ish echad b'lev echad.
At Adirei HaTorah, tens of thousands of voices rang out, simply giving praise for this great gift of Torah- pure, unadulterated joy, and pure achdus.
What a burst of energy to welcome the week!
For me personally, it was one long Yom Tov, as the next day, my Rebbe, the Gerrer Rebbe zohl zein gezunt arrived in America.
The Rebbe is not young, and he has not been well, but he deeply feels the distress of the families he carries on his heart and mind. For the first time since he assumed the mantle of leadership nearly three decades ago, he has come to ask his American chassidim to help their fellow chassidim in Eretz Yisrael, kollel yungeleit who are contending with the loss of the government stipend.
"If the yungeleit cannot put bread and milk on their tables," the Rebbe told me, "then I cannot sleep at night". The pain was audible in his voice, one man carrying a burden of tens of thousands. There is mesiras nefesh in his coming, and mesiras nefesh in the reaction, chassidim here responding with extraordinary generosity.
It is not just the Gerrer Rebbe. Next week, a delegation of Rebbes and Roshei Yeshiva from Eretz Yisrael are planning a similar trip, a group of older men undertaking a journey so that they can help others.
It is the koach of Mattan Torah, a sign of the achrayus that binds us, which we received at the same moment, each one of us responsible for his friend.

I want to reiterate, people are entitled to their political opinions but it is 100% assur to doubt or question Daas Torah as it leads to denigrating them. We know that if Daas Torah say black is white, then black is white. We cannot under any circumstances question the helege roshei yeshiva in this town of Torah and kedusha.
ReplyDeletePeople have a mesorah on voting that they follow.
DeleteThe lack of trust by local elections in Lakewood is with the askanim who people doubt their motives as has been proven again and again.
Untill there is a halachicly elected vaad there's no inuan of daas Torah over what's best for each individual tax payer.
Rav Shach wrote a letter for the roshei yeshiva to stay out of politics.
Additionally someone who does not live or pay taxes in Lakewood or any town has no right to tell others who live there who to vote for
That is true only when it's true Daas Torah, not when influenced by other factors and misinformation.
DeleteAnon 9:05
DeleteDid you apply the same logic with WZO or did you ignore daas Torah when it dosent fit for you
9:05
DeleteIf all four Heilege Rosh Yeshivos knock on your door and tell you "in the name of Daas Torah, we command you to divorce your wife".
They don't give you any reason and they walk away
BE HONEST. Will you head to Bais Din and request a Get?
The original comment is obviously coming from the likes of the conservtive movement and EHK debacle. But to be clear even the shitos who hold you need to listen to Sanhedrin when you know they are wrong were not referring to the concept of Daas Torah in the political and social context it used today
Delete10:04 AM,
Deletethumbs up
Al9050--Any bet din that writes a get under such circumstances should be thrown out of town.
DeleteI don't question the Daas Torah of Rav Shach who exhorted the Lakewood Roshei Yeshiva not to get involved in politics.
Delete10:04 I'm no believer in Daas Torah in the political and social context it is used today but you are making a straw man argument. For those who do believe in Daas Torah it is like saying if a bunch or doctors who you trust knock on your door and say you need to come to the hospital and remove your left kidney tomorrow . They don't give you any reason and they walk away. Will you head to the hospital and have the surgery? When Daas Torah is invoked there is always a possibly correct and understandable sentiment behind it.
DeleteRav Shach also said talmidim should get married before the freezer
Delete9:117 -- I have a legitimate Daas Torah that says to vote in WZO.
Delete12:42 honest question where can I see more about that? I’d like to learn up on it
Delete1:35pm In your moshol of the Doctors, I'd absolutely question them and seek a 2nd opinion. My 10:04 comment was directed at 9:05 who didn't allow any questioning whatsoever
DeleteGood line going around
ReplyDeleteEretz Hakodesh got more votes in Lakewood than Gottheimer
In total. Not just in lakewood , to both.
DeleteAguda is no longer a real organization its just a party platform for some loud askanim, Ger uses it to help ITSELF and only itself.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeshivish use it only to help themselves and no one else.
DeleteI love it how the Zionists think they can draft us real frumme into their shmad machine the IDF, we dont care about the Zionist dream. our Torah protects us and the secular, we give the Zionists a zchus by taking their peanuts. We will never serve these atheists we serve the Abishter try all you want.
ReplyDelete9:16 Why are the frumme in EY in such spiritual danger and under such huge threat of being drafted? Why isn't Torah protecting them ?????
Delete9:05
DeleteDT .SO nu come & ask me. There is more DT here than most signed papers
Move out of Israel. You are protected by Tzahal. Which you disclaim
DeleteThere was a Yishuv long before there was a tzahal.
DeleteWas Rav Avigdor Miller Zecher Tzadik Vkodosh Livrocho not daas Torah?
ReplyDeleteI searched for his teshuvos and chidushim al hashas online. Can you link to them?
DeleteRav Miller learned in a yeshiva where all talmidim had to be clean-shaven.
DeleteYes, Slabodka.
Do you follow him on that?
You won't find teshuvos and chidushim al hashas online for most Gedolim.
DeleteRav Avigdor Miller was not very anti bochurim having beards like Rav Ahron Kotler was. I certainly agree 100% with Rav Avigdor Miller's view that “big bushy beards” are just chitzonius. It depends on what else the person with or without it is doing.
DeleteWas he as anti as him to USA shavers and only cream?
DeleteRav Avigdor Miller seemed to have gone with the view of RAK that whatever his opinion of electric shavers was he never told anyone not to use them without being asked . Very few people asked either of them for their opinion on them
DeleteActually, most teshuvos are available online at Hebrewbooks. But Rabbi Miller's seem to be missing.
DeleteRosenberg (Hebrewbooks) told me he removed sforim at request of author or family. Plus I know he cehsors certain sforim he doesn't like.
DeleteDid you get the link of seforim published by BP print group or igud or vaad or scnall or tent near 18?
Delete5:10 AM ,
DeleteThe greatest often wouldn't publish.Have several examples available offhand.Only [substack] maskilim or the clueless masses or judge solely based on published output
Here's how it went.
DeletePeople only had radios, no televisions, so they were educated by those whose views are geared to truck drivers and trailer trash (Rush Limbaugh for short).
Now that Yiddishkeit was morphed into rightwing rantings and sechel-free אמונות טפלות, a gadol was needed to 'back' these fantasies.
The Gedolim who were actually consulted on issues, including halacha and hanhaga, never signed onto this romance with the republican party. Those with published output, talmidim, and piskei halacha, were mostly suspiciously silent.
So they went back, found an inspiring speaker with fringe opinions, and crowned him not only as a Gadol, but as the only Gadol. Nobody's opinion counts any more, if you argue you are money-hungry or worse. All issurim are canceled because of this post-mortem chassidus.
When someone asks for the basis of this coronation of the Gadol, we hear inanities like 'the greatest often wouldn't publish', dismissing the Gedolim that we did have, and who either published or were published, for the sake of the one whose opinions just happen to match those of the rabid radio hosts.
Sounds like the banning of the TV was very bad for yidishkeit? We all became limbaugh Millerites!
DeleteJosh is for all the toavos. How can anybody vote for him?
ReplyDeleteThe Roshei Yeshivas letter already addressed this.
DeleteFalsely, soon we'll be told that the Skulener Rebbes also said it's okay. Shame. Shame.
DeleteIgros Moshe מין גס רוח search it online ..
DeleteAgudah has been endorsing the toavot for decades
DeleteAgudah endorses candidates? Or only ....?
Delete1:47
DeleteThey wouldn't be able to,if it hit them in the nose
6:40,
DeleteThey hadn't the gall then. The old moetzes would have never permitted such a thing. In recent couple decades, however..
It is true that the old moetzes never would have permitted supporting a pro toevah candidate but when they were alive there were many Democrats who were not pro toevah. Today there is no such a thing. So what is the option? Just let the furthest left and biggest antisemite win the primaries because we can't vote in them?
DeleteNow Mikie Sherrill owes the askanim nothing
ReplyDeleteWas it smart to burn the bridges and push the losing candidate
She was not willing to offer them anything when they did meet with her so they have nothing to lose by her owing them nothing.
DeleteWhat bridges did anyone have with Mikie Sherrill to begin with that were burnt by not supporting her in the primary?
DeleteTroll. Josh is pro Toavah! Against tuition vouchers why vote for him,?
DeleteAll the Democratic candidates were pro Toavah and against tuition vouchers. As is frequently the case in elections you have to vote for the least of the evils
DeleteYou do not have to vote for bad rather than worse. You can vote for Sam or Moshe or Rabbi Miller.
DeleteRabosay Matzav is outraged that Aretz Hakodesh was disqualified.
ReplyDeleteHaHa be outraged at your own stupidity and rishus...
Idiot. Those who were behind that are coming for you next!
DeleteAnon 3:20
DeleteHuh?
Chutzpah
ReplyDeleteFor the vaad or adirei askanim to claim ownership on anyone who voted in Lakewood
You do not own us or control us
We voted in spite of yohow dare you sit in those conference rooms thinking that we are your pawn and subservient to you.
