There will be a Minyan I’YH saying Tehillim at 1:00 PM this Sunday on the Yartzeit of Rabbi Avroham Yitzchok Klugman known as the Tzadik of Freehold.
Freehold Hebrew Cemetery in Freehold, New Jersey is located along NJ-33 Business (which is a split-off of Rt-33) right before Cardigan Bay Lane behind the Freehold Raceway Mall. (Kevarim)
IN THE EARLY 1920’S, A VISITING RELIGIOUS JEW, AVROHOM ITZHOK KLUGMAN WAS ACCIDENTALLY KILLED AS HE WALKED ALONG THE RAILROAD TRACKS. SINCE NO
ONE KNEW OF HIS ORIGIN, HE WAS BROUGHT TO FREEHOLD FOR BURIAL. BOTH THE FREEHOLD HEBREW BENEFIT SOCIETY AND THE WORKMEN’S CIRCLE SOUGHT THE HONOR OF BURYING THIS HOLY MAN. AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION, THE SOLUTION WAS TO HAVE HIM BURIED ON THE DIVIDING LINE, WITH HIS HEAD IN THE SOCIETY’S SECTION AND HIS FEET IN THE WORKMEN’S CIRCLE SECTION
This HOLY YID is THe REAL Thing, A big Talmud Chacham , He lived a life similar to the Nazirs path but different,He lived in the woods in Freehold area and could be found in the Old Shul on 4th St. often totally immersed in learning and would sleep in the woods nearby living on bread and water and a potato he didnt need anything from this world Many people in Lakewood and Freehold always offered him Sh
ReplyDeleteeter Clothing food and Money He refused everyone in a respectful manner,He would tell people to give their $ and support to all the impoverished Rabbis.
He did not need anything. A yid ,a writer in the Early 1900s was fascinated by the apparent folks tales of a seemingly " Crazy Yid" living in the woods of Freehold. He tracked him down in Lakewood and was told that he was in the old Shul . He came in and saw him and approached him and pushed him away with words,A regular in the Shul Knew R ' Klugman and he knew about the Yiddish writer. He approached R Klugman whispered in his ear about the Writer Who R Klugman knew from his writings R Klugman changed his Persona and Humbly Apologized to the writer . They spent many hours talking with the few members there watching in AWE as R Klugman never spoke to anyone at Length with Anyone. The writer wrote an article about him in a Yiddish paper from NY. Shortly there after he was Tragically Killed by a train on the Old Freehold line. The yidden knew about him in Freehold, and Buried him in the Freehold Cemetary rite next to Freehold Mall Many people come from far and wide to Daven at his Kever in the Middle of the Cemetary,it is one of the Only Kevers with the Traditional Candle Box. Please go ,and when you're there respect all the others that are there, there are quite a few children interred nearby and Please clean up after, Unfortunately some folks don' t care . There are Many very Holy survivors interred there . One very nearby is Steve Kitay AH and His Holy Father AH a survivor , Who was a PILLAR of the Jackson Jewish Community . Be Blessed
