A win for safety advocates ! At the workshop meeting last week Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles said the township should install sidewalks in industrial park for the safety of the pedestrians that walk there now. The mayor said the sidewalks would be made from asphalt which is much cheaper than concrete and easier to place. It will be similar to the walking paths currently in Cedarbridge park. See video below where
A Resident asks the Lakewood Industrial commission at the board meeting why they have a policy of no sidewalks in Industrial park. There are many schools located withn the industrial park with students and pedestrians walking the dangerous roadways and no sidewalks. The LIC says their policy is to make the park friendly to truck traffic and commercial industry by not having sidewalks which will encourage pedestrians to walk on the roads. Recently schools wedding halls and other businesses have moved into the industrial park making it a safety issue for pedestrians.
