Traffic Improvements at Cedarbridge Ave in Lakewood paid by Ocean County

LNN -  Ocean County  awarded contracts for major traffic safety improvements to 2 busy intersections in Lakewood, and 1 of those projects will be funded in part by the Transportation Trust Fund, which is funded by the gas tax increase.

Major upgrades are coming to Cedar Bridge and Oberlin Ave, which include road widening to 4 lanes in each direction on Cedar Bridge Ave and 2 lanes in each direction on Oberlin Ave, left turn lanes and new traffic lights with left turning arrows for all 4 approaches, and associated drainage upgrades.
On Oberlin Ave, the islands will be removed to make way for 12' left turning lanes, and 16' right/through lanes. On Cedar Bridge Ave, the road will be widened from Flannery Ave to fit the additional lanes. New curb and sidewalk, as well as drainage and infiltration basins, will be constructed. As an added bonus, during the morning rush hours, this light will be augmented, to increase the green light time for Oberlin Ave.

This entire project was awarded to Jersey Construction for $1,156,846.80.

The other project is at Ridge & New Hampshire Ave. New Hampshire Ave will receive properly paved right and left turning lanes. Ridge Ave will be widened westbound to accommodate a dedicated left turning lane, plus a straight lane, and the eastbound lane will be narrowed to one lane.
New crosswalks will be painted and, although the crosswalk signs will only turn on when activated by a pedestrian, on Shabbos the crosswalk sign will activate automatically.

This project was awarded to Karka Construction, for $838,235.35.

The utility companies will need to relocate their poles prior to any construction.

The construction has not yet been scheduled, but it is expected to take place later this spring.
