    1. And also realize that many vendors lost fortunes of money in the recent bankruptcy in the Kosher market. Do you know what they do when they lose money? Raise their prices. Yes. So the bargain you think is getting isn't so cheap.

    2. So that's why we need more bankruptcies

    1. Remember, Parnassa that is determined from Rosh Hashana to Rosh Hashana, is for your needs, not the cost of your needs. Are you helping the Aibeshter save money? Do you have a successful budget plan better than His? He instructs you to support your neighbors. It means that the budget is there for doing that rather than choosing to support outsiders.

  6. Who is the insider that we should be supporting? Does NPGS give more tzedaka locally than the owners of Seasons or Evergreen? I don't see either hiring many local frum hidden. They all buy from the same suppliers, it's not like there are local options.
So i'm not really understanding this "keep it local". Yes, I buy kids clothing local vs. the mall or amazon. But groceries?

    1. I’m not an NPGS fan but one thing you can’t deny, they employ many nitztachim which likely cost them more than what other stores are paying the prusta cashiers they expose us to.

  7. NPGS does give very generously. But because it's quiet you don't see it. However, the issue here is that the local stores who have served the community loyally have been thrown under the bus. People Sank their whole lives into businesses and some investors' groups from out of town have turned the Lakewood economy into a form of sport.don't you see that by supporting them you are perpetrating an injustice?

    1. Parnassa means that if you make an effort to save money you ought to be spending in an ethical manner, your savings will be defrayed in lots of other ways - like medical bills or repair bills that are quite unwelcome.

i like to joke what do the State Police and Evergreen, seasons, Gourmet Glatt and Bingo have in common?
They all realized they can just prance into Lakewood and make big money!
and just for the record NPGS always gave jobs to the local frum people that needed them.

  10. Why Was KRM never allowed to come to Lakewood?
Does opening 4 or 5 branches not take away from other stores that were already there before?
