Faiq Mabhouh, who served as the head of operations in Hamas’s internal security force, was armed and hiding inside the Shifa complex, “from which he was working to advance terror activity,” the IDF says. Mabhouh was killed amid an exchange of fire during an attempt to arrest him.

IDF battled several Hamas terrorists who shot at the soldiers from the hospital,returning fire and killing the terrorists. IDF said it had arrested around 80 persons, some of whom are Hamas terrorists. No hostages were reported to have  been in the area.

The Hamas terrorist has been identified as Sheikh Mahmoud Nofal, an imam in Hebron’s Al-Qassem Mosque.

 President Joe Biden hailed the speech Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer gave yesterday in which he called for elections in Israel to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden said it was a good speech.

Understanding the millennia-old plight and oppression of the Jewish people, his love and devotion toward Israel are intense and deeply personal. He feels the existential threat that Israel faces and the hate and viciousness that surround her. The pain of Israel, as experienced before and after October 7, is his own. And Israel’s desire for peace, too, is his own. Anyone who knows Senator Schumer, and who reads the words of his major address on Middle East peace, knows this to be true.

We are saddened, though, that important aspects of Senator Schumer’s address crossed a line. Indeed, it was the wrong message at the wrong time.

Qatari mediators have transferred to the Israeli negotiating team an official Hamas response to the latest hostage deal framework. The law wont apply to  yeshiva bochur or avreich who is learning full tinme in yeshiva but those that are not learning full time will now be subjected to serve or volunteer in some capacity with army or civil service such as rescue organizations. The gedolim of the past have been vehemently against sanctions and quotas .

This past weekend, in a Purim turnabout of events, things came from left field, from an

unexpected source.

The Sephardic chief rabbi articulated how B’nei Yeshiva en masse should take the walking

staff in hand, and move to chutz l’Aretz, should a giyus – conscription directive be enacted.

This caused a row across Israel’s political spectrum. Benny Gantz dubbed the remarks a moralblow to the I.D.F., while Avigdor Lieberman, scholar in residence, claimed it contravened Halacha.

Rav Yosef was actually reiterating the Ponevez Rosh Yeshiva, Maran Harav Shach’s statement,

years ago.

Harav Yosef also said the success of Tzahal hinges on Torah study.

Giving people clarity about these issues is genuine Kiddush shem Shomayim.

Yet, Monday’s edition of ‘Torah Jewry’s Daily’ made no mention of this news item.

Who would keep silent and unwittingly create a fictional narrative of facts, as if nothing at all

took place?

Will ‘Mishpacha Magazine’ seize the moral highground and tell it like it is?!

- BMG purchases the new Avreichim minyan building on the corner of Clifton Ave and 10th street. In a press release by Adirei Hatorah, the announcement was made about the new acquisition  construction on the new building is underway, BMG anticipates being ready to move in for Sukkos zman 2024. The new Bais Medrash is expected to accommodate between 350-400 yungeleit, providing a conducive environment for Torah study and spiritual growth. The current Avreichin Minyan davens on shabbos at the Carey B"M and may daven in the new building just for shabbos.

The peess release stated: "The “Avreichim Minyan,” founded in 1986 by a group of Yungerleit learning in Yeshiva, holds a significant place in the hearts of many within the Lakewood community. Many of the original founders and mispallim went on to become Lakewood’s leading Chasidish rabbonim and Roshei Yeshivas. The minyan started in a small room on 6th Street, continuing on for years in the Lakewood Cheder Dining room, before moving to the Solomon suites and eventually to the BMG Carey Street building, where it currently resides".

An independent report on how New Jersey handled the COVID pandemic said some schools and businesses could have reopened earlier.

New Jersey students would have experienced less learning loss and isolation had schools reopened earlier after the coronavirus pandemic shutdown, according to the findings of a 910-page independent review of New Jersey’s response to COVID-19.

The report, released Monday, also said business closures in the state could have been handled differently and have allowed some businesses to reopen earlier or remain open.

The report did find New Jersey was a model for other states with its food distribution program for students during the pandemic.

“In hindsight, it is likely that New Jersey students would have benefited from schools opening sooner,” said the report,

The report noted that if the state had known more about ways to reduce airborne transmission of the virus, particularly by indoor masking, it would have been more likely to encourage reopening more schools in the fall. But reopening then would have been particularly difficult in older urban schools that didn’t have room for social distancing.

A statement by Murphy did not address specific problems outlined in the report.

The pandemic shutdowns may have been even worse on business in New Jersey than the Great Depression, Zoubek said.
