  1. if someone chalila joins the IDF they are no longer automatically chareidi and likely a candidate for the OTD status, you cannot give a hechsher to a chazer and the IDF is the avi avos hatuma of the Zionists, remember we survived 1939-1945, Stalin we will survive Netanyahu.

    1. You are sick to compare joining the IDF which protects yidden (like it or not) to Hitler and Stalin. Signed a Charedi who wants Bnei Torah to learn.

    2. Charedim didn't survive 39-45, Stalin any more than chilonim.
(Not that the current concept of charedim existed then, compared to now. In fact, plenty of charedim were drafted into resistance, the machteret, and even Tzahal.

What was the trajectory like in 1938 and the 20+ years preceding it?

In reality, Torah Judaism has come out stronger. Unfortunately, it seems to really irk certain people

    5. The concept existed, even if as a frei pejorative. There were others terms as well eg adukim
Drafted? The machteret was [supposedly] volunteer

  2. Rav Gustman said that a IDF soldier who falls in battle is on a higher lever in shamayim than his own son killed in his arms by the Nazis.

Without proof, the claim is false.

    2. Rav Gustman told it the noble prize winner Robert Aumann when he was being menachem avel him for his son who killed fighting in the Israeli army. Being that Prof Aumann is still alive and a person who occasionally comments publicly on frum issues (he was a major fighter against NYSED regulations on Yeshivas) and this story is frequently in print (not in the kanoi publications of course) but he never denied it is safe to assume it is true

      Delete
    3. Yes, I read that as well. Rav Gustman said it to professor Aumann who was sitting shivah for his son, Shlomo Aumann hy"d, who fell in the 1982 campaign in Lebanon. Speaking of his son hy"d, Rav Gustman said, "My Meir is a kadosh; he and all the 6 million who perished are holy." He added: "I will tell you tell you what is happening now in Gan Eden. My Meir is welcoming your son Shlomo into the minyan and saying to him, 'I died because I am a Jew -- but I wasn't able to save anyone else. But you, Shlomo, you dies defending the Jewish people and the Land of Israel.' My Meir is a kadosh, he is holy, but your Shlomo is a sheliach tzibbur!" Professer Aumann replied, "I thought I could never be comforted, but Rebbi, you have comforted me." That's the perspective a Gadol B'Yisrael.

    7. The whole Rav Gustman thing is irrelevant. There are many geonim and tzadikim who we respect greatly but we don't go with their hashkafos b'inyanei hashaa

    8. Rav Chaim Shmulevitz compared fallen soldiers to Harugei Lud.
And who told you that we don't follow their hashkofa?

    9. “We don’t go with their hashkafos” ahhh nice to just pick and choose

    10. The whole Rav Gustman thing is irrelevant. There are many geonim and tzadikim who we respect greatly but we don't go with their hashkafos b'inyanei hashaa That is the way I feel about a lot of what hear these days. I'm staying with the haskafa of people like Rav Chaim Shmulevitz and Rav Gustman etc. instead of changing and adopting the haskafa of some of the people I'm told are Daas Torah today, who don't come anyone near them in gadlus in Torah.

      Delete
    11. Correct. Anyone today who, in the name of Daas Torah, would dismiss what Rav Gustman said , is not only not as big as him. They are not in the same league!

      Delete
    12. Rov minyan ubinyan of the Chareidishe velt today follow the hashkafos of the Chazon Ish and Brisker Rav as given over to us by Rav Shach and the Steipler.
The gedolim of the moetzes from R Ahron, R' Moshe, R' Yaakov till today.
None of them would have made such a comment as Rav Gustman did.
That doesn't take away from his gadlus, but trying to make as if he was a kovea in the hashkafa of today's Chareidi Yeshiva crowd is laughable

iirc How many of their descendants served in the army If any?

      Delete
    14. Rav Moshe and Rav Yaakov never spoke out against the medinah or the army, and for good reason. When it's a matter of life and death, and the army is protecting the Jewish people, and young kedoshim are dying, it's not a time to denigrate them (if ever). Until the 'neturei karta' and their ilk are ready to fight and lay down their lives to save other Jews, I don't want to hear from them or their Lakewood spokesmen.

      Delete
    15. None of them would have made such a comment as Rav Gustman did You don't know if that is true. Did any of them know personally someone whose son was killed in the IDF and went to be menachem avel? Had that not been the case with Rav Gustman you would think he wouldn't have said such a thing either. Rav Chaim Shmulevitz referred to fallen IDF soldiers as Harugei Lud and publicly spoke against those who had no hakaras tov. They also all certainly never publicly used the vitriol used by some who we are told are Daas Torah today. And were very opposed to those who did.

    16. Army officer came to see Rav Shach many times and he always thanked them for protecting us. It has nothing to do with Zionism. Its basic kakoras hatov, basic decency.

      Delete
    17. iirc How many of their descendants served in the army If anyMore than you are told and would think reading the kanoi publications. Rav Moshe had a grandson in the IDF, There is even a teshuva in Igros Moshe written to him about carrying seforim with you if are on guard duty on Shabbos where Rav Moshe writes very positively about the mitzvah of protecting other Yidden. We'll stop there.

      Delete
    18. Rav Shach thanking army officer is different than saying that soldiers killed in battle are greater than the Holocaust kedoshim

      Delete
    19. Every Jew killed by the Nazis becomes a kadosh, even those who were assimilated. He didn't say the fallen soldier was higher than Rav Menachem Zemba. He was saying that his baby son became a kadosh for being murdered for being a Jew. So did the fallen soldier for the same reason. On top of that, the soldier CHOSE to put his life on the line to defend Klall Yisroeol.
But the reason I brought up Rav Gustman was not to show who is on a higher level in shamayim, but simply to show that this Gadol among Gadolim expressed hakoras hatov for the soldiers who (with Hashem's help) protect us. As I showed, Rav Shach did the same. This is something that your Chareidi world and its present day leaders will not do. That is something new and not something you should be proud of.

      Delete
    20. He didn't say he was bigger than Rav Menachem Zemba. All Holocaust survivors , even assimilated ones automatically have the status of Kedoshim.
All Rav Gustman said was that the automatic status given to his baby son, is even greater for a soldier killed in action because not only did he die because he was a Jew but CHOSE to put his life on the line to defend Klall Yisroel.
      But I didn't quote

    1. School isn't a free for all. It's a service that you have to pay for. If you didn't have your tuition paid up by the start of the new year, you can't continue receiving the service for free. I feel terrible for those who can't afford today's high tuitions. My own children are having trouble making ends meet and paying tuition. But it's the reality. You can't keep taking a service for free. As important as that service may be.

  4. They keep blaming everything on the state while ignoring us. Nothing will change until we get rid of the people in power and bring in real neighborhood representation with term limits.

The so-called “Ask the Mayor” email just proves the point — easy questions get answered for show, but anything real is ignored.

    1. The corruption in Lakewood, fueled by Unzereh, is a dark stain on the reputation of the ihr HaTorah. They have caused immense pain and financial strain for local residents through their shady dealings.

The politicians, too, are complicitcatering to the powerful askanim, securing grants for their projects, while ignoring the genuine needs of the community. But the most insulting part comes during election season, when they pressure and manipulate voters with false promises, claiming they're helping the community, when in reality, they are only using your vote to serve their own interests.

It’s disgusting, despicable, and shameful that this continues to happen.

  5. Same for the Daycare and Security grant scams. They make it look as if they’re trying to help us out, but meanwhile, these are just money grabs for a few individuals. Daycare system should be shut down and the scam security grants should never happen. Invest the money in improving the lives of the community.

  7. Unfortunatly the corruption is from the top . The entire chamberbridge development (ave of americas) was taken from taxpayer land given to the 'powers that be' and buildings were built that are practically tax free. How does any of this benefit any of us taxpayers?? Vote all incumbents out! Are there anyone running for the BOE this year??
