A fresh take on why Rosh Hashanah is in the seventh month of the Jewish Year and not in Nissan which is the beginning of the Jewish New Year
ReplyDeletehttps://musingsonthetorah.blogspot.com/2025/07/rosh-hashanah-new-year-that-belongs-to.html
Will the Jackson Jewish Community Council (JJCC) actually support what's good for the community of what's good for their own interests like the the Lakewood Vaad. It is the same m.o. all over again. Force/Threaten people to vote, and then self enrich themselves.
ReplyDeleteLSTA portal.is only open for specific grades, not for all.
ReplyDeleteThe LSTA was founded to bring order, fairness, and efficiency to a broken bussing system. Instead of fulfilling that promise, it has grown into an unaccountable bureaucracy that acts as though it answers to no one. What was supposed to be a solution has, in many ways, become part of the problem.
ReplyDeleteParents across LSTA covered areas, and especially Lakewood can testify to the chaos. Buses that show up twenty minutes before their scheduled time, forcing little children to stand outside, only to find out the bus either came already or will never show up. Buses that arrive late, making children anxious and parents late for work. Long rides that stretch far past reason, with young children enduring extremely long schooldays. Afternoon buses which are a blessing every time they show up, leaving children in school for an hour until they finally realize a bus home will not happen and parents have to leave their screaming kids who just got home from an hour bus ride to fend for themselves while the mother has to go pick up their other child.
This is not “transportation management.” This is mismanagement, plain and simple.
Worse, LSTA’s response to legitimate complaints has not been humility, accountability, or urgency. Instead, they deflect, minimize, or even dismiss parents’ concerns. And when community members or schools dare to ask questions, the organization’s instinct is not to engage in dialogue, but to shut them down. This is the behavior of a bully, not a public service entity.
Let us not forget: this is taxpayer money and tzibbur money at stake. Families pay into this system (even though for some reason public school children are free). The government funds this system. When a bus does not show up? do parents get a credit back? who is pocketing that money?
Why aren't the bus contracts open to the public? why can't we all see them?
Yet the very people it was created to serve — our children and our parents — are treated as if their voices don’t matter. LSTA exists because of the tzibbur, but it operates as if it is untouchable, accountable to no one.
This cannot continue. Children waiting endlessly for buses that may or may not show up is not acceptable. Buses arriving long before or long after their scheduled times is not acceptable. Forcing children into exhausting, non ending school days is not acceptable.
The system needs serious reform. Real oversight. Transparency. Accountability. Families deserve clear answers: Why are routes being mismanaged? Where is the communication? Why is feedback treated as a nuisance instead of an obligation? And most importantly, when will LSTA finally prioritize the children it was created to serve?
Lakewood’s families deserve better. Our children deserve better. If LSTA cannot deliver on its mission, then it is time for a new model of transportation — one that listens, one that responds, and one that remembers who it is supposed to serve.
There should be public hearings with all the people who patted themselves on the back when they hijacked our busing rights to.create the LSTA consortium
DeleteNotice how they have all been silent
It takes a lot of talent to rip apart repair and then rip apart again the roads in Lakewood
ReplyDeleteThe routes are so crazy. There's 1 stop on my HS daughters bus that adds 10 minutes to a long route. That's after the bus shows up 20 minutes after school was over. HS girls start early it's not fair to make them wait for busses like that. The LSTA has changed HS girls and boys stops to Avenues/main streets only. Come down Central Ave in the afternoon the traffic is unbearable why?? Because the HS busses are stopping at every 2nd corner instead of going in the blocks. It's the same in the morning. LSTA has made a zoo out of the transportation in this town, complete chaos and dysfunctional. It's not possible to run a home or a school with this form of transportation . You begged us to vote for toy we got you in now perform for our benefit.
ReplyDeleteThe traffic jams in Lakewood are Hashem's midda knegged midda for all the wannabe kannoim on hefkervelt cheering on the eitznikim blocking roads in Israel.
