- BDE: Passing of Aaron Bell "Bielski" the last survivor of the Bielski brothers Tuvia, Alexander (Zus), Asael, and Aron were four Jewish brothers who led a partisan group in the forests of Belarus during World War II, establishing a hidden base camp that grew into a substantial community and saved the lives of nearly 1,200 Jews from the Nazis. Their unit, the largest Jewish partisan group during the war, focused on rescuing Jews and building a thriving community rather than solely engaging in military combat, creating a "Jerusalem in the woods" complete with a bakery, a synagogue, and other vital facilities.

The guy proposing the daycare business for at least 200 kids directly on Ridge Avenue must be crazy. The traffic from the Kamenitz school is already meshugge and he now wants to add another couple hundred cars to the mix. He must really not give 2 cents about the people living there. Either that or he only cares about the millions he'll be raking in at everyone else's expense.
ReplyDeleteStop choking us! Do not approve it!
Government funding should go to schools and not to these get rich quick on the back of the voters Daycare center scams.
DeleteHow is that going to change
DeleteIt won’t change until we stop listening to those who benefit off our backs, telling us their so-called ‘daas Torah’ about who we ‘have to’ vote for.

ReplyDeleteStill trying to figure out the wisdom of pushing Lakewood to vote for Josh Gottheimer in the primary election when he had no shot and finished in 4th place.
ReplyDeleteIt was a abuse of the public voting rights and made no sense.

DeleteProf. T. and I just petitioned the NJ Supreme Court to hear the Lakewood school case. Brief is due October 8. We are optimistic.
ReplyDeleteOnce we win, the exact remedy will be up to legislators. We need the debt forgiven and new categorical aid. This is very important because if only the Adequacy Budget is increased by, say, $100M, the litigation will have been futile since we still would not receive equalization given that the Township's wealth has shot up over the last two years.
I have made the case for over a decade that Lakewood has among the lowest per capita income in NJ. The poverty rate and household income is way below the state average. Moreover, when the wealth is divided by the total amount of K-12, the town is low income (but the state no longer uses that metric).
I have been asking for the oilam to elect a friendly BOE. The leadership of this town and our legislative delegation will have to stop backslapping and begin some serious work or else all the litigation will have been for naught and we will continue to borrow. AL
