- APP- Lakewood Mayor Raymond Coles has confirmed that “to the best of my knowledge” at least 40 positive cases have been detected in Lakewood. He said cases are spread out around township, but many concentrate in Latino population. Coles said that when testing was done last week, many Latino residents fit the criteria to get tested and that other residents were turned away due to limited testing kits. But that we may see increase in other groups as this progresses

ReplyDelete9 of 14 isn't 90%, and the ones that get tested are obviously the ones that suspect they have it so their rates will be higher than the rest of the population. So it doesn't mean 90% of the whole population.

Fatalities have now been reported in the Italian regions of Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Marche, Liguria, Piedmont, Lazio, Puglia and Friuli Venezia-Giulia.
The vast majority of cases (over 5,000) as well as deaths (333) have been in Lombardy. The large majority of the deceased were male, and all were Italian citizens, government data shows.
Many were in their 80s or 90s, and were already suffering from serious health problems, including cancer, when the coronavirus infection was detected.

But while Italian health officials have been quick to point out that the people who've died so far have had an average age of 81, many of them with pre-existing health conditions, that fact does very little to reassure people – particularly in a country with a population as elderly as Italy's.

And that's assuming that they randomly tested 14 people, not people already showing symptoms.
We need to be aware that over hyping will backfire. I know that it's a delicate balance but we need to be careful.
