An Open Letter Re WZO Elections by Harav Aharon Feldman Shlita

Long detailed Letter from Harav Aharon Feldman shlita Rosh Yeshiva Ner Yisrael Baltimore, MD.
"In response to the question of many, I have not retracted my opinion that it is forbidden to vote in the World Zionist Organization (WZO) elections.....
"In summation, until a full and honest presentation of what Eretz Hakodesh is able to accomplish is given to R. Chaim and other gedoley hador, I continue to urge the public to refrain from voting in the WZO elections"&nbsp

  1. Whether I think Harav Feldman is correct or not he just (I assume unintentionally) gave everyone the way out of believing Gedolim.

  5. Do he really write this letter?

If he feels that Rav Chaim Kanievsky and Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky don't understand the situation why shouldn't I say the same thing about him?

I see what he is saying and don't think it is an accurate assessment of the situation

I'll stop there not to get too involved in Machlokes and Mevazah Talmedey Chachomim.

  6. Whether RCK and others were misled or not is debatable but one thing is absolutely certain:

None of the Gedolim from the previous generations were asked about the current situation. This letter gives a hechser to all those who say had they been around today and known the current situation they would have said differently. Because in essence what this letter is saying "I know better because I'm more familiar with the facts of the (current) situation"

    2. (1)Nothing changed at all? (2)This campaign is all about money ? (3)the same metzius existed previously and the gedolim all said no ?

      Do you really believe that?

If so quit when you are not so far behind.

On another note having seen signs from the anti voters invoking Rav Meir Shapiro let me ask a simple question.

Why did Rav Meir Shapiro agree to Agudas Yisroel have vote sharing agreements with the Zionist parties in local and national Polish elections (but no other secular Jewish parties)? (Presumably all the gedolim heading Agudah agreed. I'm singling him out because he is the only one I'm aware who explicitly addressed it)

Let's say you are right. This is all about money.

Where do you believe this money will go if the frum parties win and where do you believe the money will go if the anti frum parties win?

    4. like r aron feldman wrote there is litle to no chance that the money will come our way and even if it will since when are issurum permited to the highest bidder?

    5. Right

Like R aron feldman wrote there is little to no chance that the money will come our way. Therefore voting in this election is clearly NOT about getting money

    6. The MO of insincere kanoim is to blame money. People are missing a Torah approach to money. Money for Torah is not a bad thing, and if the entire purpose of this exercise is money, there is no issur.
See also אגרות חזון איש where he makes quite clear that התחברות לרשעים is not an איסור in שלחן ערוך and it is dependent on גדולי ישראל to understand the situation and the possible benefits. Not internet zitzers, professional kanoim and מעידים בגודלם מה שראו בקוטנם.

until someone writes a tshuva why today should be different it is bchezkas issur and nobody did (confirmed with pesach lerner)
