The Chanukah Mesiba in BMG that was to take place tonight was postponed due to the Petirah of Rav Shteinman zatzal. It will take place next week the 7th night of Chanukah in the Beren hall. Harav Yaakov Busel shlita Rosh Yeshiva of Edison will be the guest speaker along with the RY Rav Dovid Schustal Shlita.
In Eretz Yisrael Rav Chaim Kanievsky said they should minimize chanuka events during the shiva.
I don't recall any Purim mesebos postponed after R Moishe was nifter
ReplyDeleteChanuka is 8 days Purim is only 1 day also Purim has a mitzvas hayom there is no Mitzva to make chanuka parties.

Purim. The seudas Purim is,a mitzvah hayom. There is no mitzvah to have Chanukah parties.
ReplyDeleteI certainly do remember that many Yeshivos canceled their Purim Mesibos after Rav Moshe was niftar.
ReplyDeleteNot only that (for example ) not only did Torah Vodaas cancel their Purim mesibo they had already been planning to make it without music because Rav Yaakov had been niftar two weeks before
If there is no mitzva in chanuka parties/ mesibos then why have them altogether? Its stam a waist of yiddishe gelt and bitul torah according to Your logic?
