The food should be chewed well before swallowing in order for the body to digest it and not have it sit in the stomach. One should increase protein starting 2 days before, such as eggs fish etc. By the seudas Hamafsekes one should drink 20 minutes before and no need to drink afterwards

-At the  zoning board meeting last night, the issue of proper noticing was highlighted again. It seems to be a recurring problem that neighbors of applicants are not receiving their notices in time. In some cases, attorneys use third-party services to deliver the notices, and they are considered “delivered” once they reach the post office  even though they have not yet been delivered to the intended homes.

- A contentious application was heard last night regarding approval for the Alexander Shul. Neighbors opposed what they described as a “monstrosity” and requested that the board postpone the hearing to allow them time to obtain legal representation a common courtesy that is usually granted. However, the board proceeded with the application.
One neighbor noted that none of the mispalelim actually live on the block. Concerns about modesty were also raised, as the plans include a men’s mikvah. The zoning board chairman appeared to speak in support of the shul. In the end, the board approved the application.

- In another application, for a daycare center adjacent to Bais Reuvein Kamenitz, the opposing attorney clashed with the board attorney and officials, and the exchange quickly turned into a circus. Ultimately, the applicant was instructed to re-notice, after the board chairman stated that there was no feasible way to have shared parking between the school and the daycare.

Leisure Village residents appeared to oppose an application for 28 lots adjacent to their development, raising concerns about wetlands and DEP oversight. Despite the objections, the board approved the project as a conforming application.

Israel at war day 725

- A Hamas source to Reuters: "Trump's plan aims to eliminate the organization and imposes 'unreasonable conditions'"

- An Israeli political source: The plan presented by President Trump is non-negotiable; it is a “yes or no" plan. The US administration also signals that we may be ready for "some minimal negotiation," but certainly not for a long negotiation. On the other hand, Qatar and Hams say tonight that this plan is actually an opening position

-Qatar's Prime Minister to Al-Jazeera: "What was presented yesterday are principles in a plan that require discussion of details and courses of action. Ceasing the war is a clear clause in the plan, and the issue of withdrawal requires clarification and discussion".

- Trump's message to Hamas: They have 3-4 days to respond. If they delay, Israel will do what it needs to do. All Arab countries have signed, all Muslim countries have signed, Israel has signed. We are just waiting for Hamas, and Hamas will do it or not - and if not, it will be a very sad end."

- Report on CBS: Hamas tends to accept Trump’s plan, according to a source familiar with the details: Hamas will send its response to the mediators tomorrow.

-Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson: Today we will hold a meeting with the presence of Turkey and a Hamas delegation to consult regarding Trump's plan to end the war.

- Three people were injured in a terror attack at the Al-Hader junction in Gush Etzion. Security forces and medical teams are at the scene.

- The Trump administration deported a plane with about a hundred Iranian asylum seekers to Iran. Despite the tension, the exceptional move was coordinated with the Iranian government. The aircraft took off from Louisiana and will land in Tehran after a stop in Qatar. For now, the identities of the deportees and the reasons for their asylum requests are unclear.

- Hamas documents recovered by Israeli troops in Gaza supposedly reveal the terror group's "direct involvement" in an activist mission currently sailing dozens of boats to challenge Israel's blockade of the Strip, Israel's Foreign Ministry says the documents "show a direct link between the flotilla leaders and the Hamas terrorist organization," especially the group's foreign arm, the Palestinian Conference for Palestinians (PCPA)

Tzedaka Priorities

ותשובה ותפילה וצדקה מעבירין את רוע הגזירה

To Whom Do We Give Tzedakah and Who Comes Before Whom?

Aseres Yemei Teshhuva between  Rosh hashana and yom kippur when many tzedaka requests are made by  Mosdos, Yeshivos individuals and organizations asking for donations as klal yisrael is in a giving mode of tzedaka during this time. we are bombarded by Tzedaka letters in the mail, robo calls, telemarketers soliciting donations, emails, a meshulach knocking at your door or approaching you in shul. Some have family obligations to support a relative.
If one can afford to give to all that would be wonderful, however not everyone is capable of that.  The question is is whom do I have to give

According to Halacha there are priorities in who to give tzedaka to first. Please discuss this with your Local Rabbi as there are differences of opinions.
Some Poskim rule that Hachzokas hatorah is the highest form of giving tzedaka.  categories in giving based on the shulchan aruch Yore Deah: The Laws of Tzedakah siman 251

Category 1: Captives, prisoners and matters of life and death- pikuach nefesh
Category 2: Very close relatives

- Jack Ciattarelli posts yesterday on his visit to Lakewood says Mikie Sherill will not opt in to tuition relief bill for New Jersey parents
"Great to be at Yeshiva Tiferes Torah in Lakewood today, where 500+ students are thriving in a strong learning environment. With so many New Jersey families choosing private schools, I’ve long supported a voucher program to give parents real choice. Thanks to the recent federal budget bill, a first-ever national voucher program will take effect in 2027—if states opt in. As Governor, I’ll make sure New Jersey does.If Mikie Sherrill is Governor, she won’t—she voted NO, and just like Phil Murphy, she’s controlled by union bosses who oppose it. New Jersey families deserve better. It’s time for change."

He is going to have problems with Washington like no Mayor in the history of our once great City. Remember, he needs the money from me, as President, in order to fulfill all of his FAKE Communist promises. He won't be getting any of it, so what's the point of voting for him? This ideology has failed, always, for thousands of years. It will fail again, and that's guaranteed! President DJT"

- Update from R' Aaron Lang on Funding lawsuit:
Prof. T. and I just petitioned the NJ Supreme Court to hear the Lakewood school case. Brief is due October 8. We are optimistic.
Once we win, the exact remedy will be up to legislators. We need the debt forgiven and new categorical aid. This is very important because if only the Adequacy Budget is increased by, say, $100M, the litigation will have been futile since we still would not receive equalization given that the Township's wealth has shot up over the last two years.

I have made the case for over a decade that Lakewood has among the lowest per capita income in NJ. The poverty rate and household income is way below the state average. Moreover, when the wealth is divided by the total amount of K-12, the town is low income (but the state no longer uses that metric).

I have been asking for the oilam to elect a friendly BOE. The leadership of this town and our legislative delegation will have to stop backslapping and begin some serious work or else all the litigation will have been for naught and we will continue to borrow. AL

"The only way that level of transparency can be achieved is for all of Representative Sherrill’s academic, disciplinary, and investigatory records to be made public – something only Representative Sherrill can authorize," said the Republican representatives in a statement. "We call on her to do so immediately and without qualification. "If those sealed disciplinary records match Representative Sherrill’s current explanation, we are unsure why she would refuse to release the records and put this matter to rest." (Insidernj)

Israeli At War Monday Sept 29

 Israel at war day 724

-Witkoff is optimistic: Hams’s initial response to the plan - "very positive"

- Netanyahu, after the meeting with Trump, releases a video - "It was a historic visit, we turned the tables and isolated Hamas. The entire world - including the Arab and Muslim world - is pressuring them to accept the conditions we set together with President Trump; the release of all our hostages while the IDF remains in most of the Gaza Strip."

-Trump starts calling the Abraham Accords the Abruhom Accords: "The real people, that's what they call it... but it's so much nicer when you say Abruhom."

- Senior White House official: "We are expecting to receive Hams' response in the coming days."

-Amit Segal: "Hamas is now a collection of frightened men who were recently miraculously saved from an Israeli elimination with advanced weapons, are inside a room guarded by Qataris, and know what will happen to them if they say no because the leader made a commitment to the President of the United States."

-In a joint statement by the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar it was written: "We welcome the announcement by US President Trump of his proposal - which includes ending the war, rebuilding Gaza, preventing the uprooting of the Palestinian people, and promoting comprehensive peace"

- President Trump on the proposed deal:

"This is a big, big day. Potentially one of the great days in civilization. We're beyond very close to a deal."

"I thank Netanyahu for agreeing to the plan and for being willing to start a new chapter in the Middle East."

"According to the plan, Arab and Muslim countries have committed in writing - and I know the representatives and believe them - to quickly demilitarize the Gaza Strip and immediately dismantle the military capabilities of Hamas and all terrorist organizations."

"I hear that Hamas also wants to end this. We trust the Arab countries."

"Within a few days, there should be no more shooting in Gaza. There probably will be, but there shouldn't be."

"Hamas and the other factions will play no role in the governance of Gaza, either directly or indirectly."

"If Hamas refuses, Israel will do what it needs to do, and I don't think they will refuse."

"I believe that at some point Iran will also be part of the Abraham Accords."

"Whoever makes peace with Israel, prospers."
"The Emir of Qatar wants peace. He had a heart-to-heart conversation with Netanyahu."

"Netanyahu said he opposes a Palestinian state and I understand his position."

"[European] countries recognized a Palestinian state foolishly - if the PA does not implement the reforms, they can only blame themselves."

- Trump’s deal to end the war in Gaza includes calls for the international committee to govern Gaza being established in the first stage of the deal in the 75% of territory Israel already captured in “Operation Gideon’s Chariots A” — even if Hamas objects.
The territories Israel has occupied would be transferred to international control. There’s a discussion about dividing Gaza into provinces, meaning, let’s say southern Gaza goes to the UAE, and northern Gaza to Bahrain.

- THE GAZA DEAL

Within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting this agreement, all hostages, alive and deceased, will be returned.
Gaza will be "a deradicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors," and that the enclave will be redeveloped for the citizens of Gaza, "who have suffered more than enough."

If both sides agree to this proposal, the war will immediately end. Israeli forces will withdraw to the agreed upon line to prepare for a hostage release. During this time, all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment, will be suspended, and battle lines will remain frozen until conditions are met for the complete staged withdrawal.

Once all hostages are released, Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners plus 1700 Gazans who were detained after October 7th 2023, including all women and children detained in that context. For every Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will release the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.

Once all hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful co-existence and to decommission their weapons will be given amnesty. Members of Hamas who wish to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage to receiving countries.

Upon acceptance of this agreement, full aid will be immediately sent into the Gaza Strip. At a minimum, aid quantities will be consistent with what was included in the January 19, 2025, agreement regarding humanitarian aid, including rehabilitation of infrastructure (water, electricity, sewage), rehabilitation of hospitals and bakeries, and entry of necessary equipment to remove rubble and open roads.

Entry of distribution and aid in the Gaza Strip will proceed without interference from the two parties through the United Nations and its agencies, and the Red Crescent, in addition to other international institutions not associated in any manner with either party. Opening the Rafah crossing in both directions will be subject to the same mechanism implemented under the January 19, 2025 agreement.

Gaza will be governed under the temporary transitional governance of a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee, responsible for delivering the day-to-day running of public services and municipalities for the people in Gaza. This committee will be made up of qualified Palestinians and international experts, with oversight and supervision by a new international transitional body, the “Board of Peace,” which will be headed and chaired by President Donald J. Trump, with other members and heads of State to be announced, including Former Prime Minister Tony Blair. This body will set the framework and handle the funding for the redevelopment of Gaza until such time as the Palestinian Authority has completed its reform program, as outlined in various proposals, including President Trump’s peace plan in 2020 and the Saudi-French proposal, and can securely and effectively take back control of Gaza. This body will call on best international standards to create modern and efficient governance that serves the people of Gaza and is conducive to attracting investment.

A Trump economic development plan to rebuild and energize Gaza will be created by convening a panel of experts who have helped birth some of the thriving modern miracle cities in the Middle East. Many thoughtful investment proposals and exciting development ideas have been crafted by well-meaning international groups, and will be considered to synthesize the security and governance frameworks to attract and facilitate these investments that will create jobs, opportunity, and hope for future Gaza.

A special economic zone will be established with preferred tariff and access rates to be negotiated with participating countries.

No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those who wish to leave will be free to do so and free to return. We will encourage people to stay and offer them the opportunity to build a better Gaza."

- Amit Segal: if Hamas rejects the US deal, the UAE and the US will take control of 80% of Gaza currently held by the IDF. Tony Blair is proposed to serve as the governor of Gaza, implementing Trump's plan. This plan aims to isolate the remaining 20% of Gaza that will still be under Hamas control, giving Gazans a choice between a better life or a worse one to break Hamas.

- The press conference between President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu is set to begin

-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu just apologized to the Prime Minister of Qatar, for the Israeli strike in Qatar on September 9. Channel 12 says Netanyahu spoke by phone for several minutes with Al Thani from the White House Trump was also on the call.
Amit Segal: “The disgusting scoundrels (Qatar) have not condemned the October 7 massacre to this day. Even if there is a political need for this, it is repulsive and disgusting”.

- Sources told Channel 12 and i24NEWS that PM Netanyahu apologized to President Trump about the Israeli strike in Qatar. Bibi didn't have a choice here. The Qataris demanded an apology as a condition for returning to the negotiations and Bibi and Trump need them to force Hams to say yes to the deal.

- CNN is reporting that a Qatari delegation visited the White House before the Trump-Netanyahu meeting, and that the delegation is still in Washington and will potentially participate in the meeting.

-PM Netanyahu on his way to a meeting with President Trump at the White House; the president will speak with the Emir of Qatar before the meeting.

- White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt ahead of the Trump-Netanyahu meeting: "Very close to a deal." The spokeswoman added, "As with any deal, both sides need to agree to compromise, and maybe they will leave the table a little dissatisfied."

-The addition of a press conference to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s White House meeting with US President Donald Trump raised speculation Monday that the Trump administration could be planning to announce that it has finalized its agreement for ending Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza and releasing the remaining hostages held there.

-Warships from the Turkish navy assisted one of the vessels in the "Freedom Flotilla to Gaza" - unofficial reports say the Turkish navy will accompany the flotilla. Warships from Italy and Spain accompany the flotilla. Turkey is the third country to join

-Multiple sources in Israel are reporting that nearly all the issues between Israel and the US regarding the plan for Gaza have been resolved. The new wording proposed by Witkoff and Kushner was accepted by PM Netanyahu, and the "gaps have been closed."

-A leading Israeli settler says he failed to get assurances from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on annexation of the West Bank ahead of a meeting between the premier and US President Donald Trump today. “Netanyahu listened and the meeting was substantive, but we left troubled despite the open discussion,” says Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, representing Israeli settlements in northern West Bank. “In the end the prime minister did not say when sovereignty would come,”

-IDF orders evacuations in the streets surrounding the Shifa Hospital in Gaza  for five buildings near the hospital. Also, an evacuation warning was given for the "Alibaba" building near the maternity building in the Shifa Hospital complex.

Selichos of י"ג מדות when Yom Kippur falls on Thursday

This rare calendar year, in which Erev Pesach fell out on Shabbos, brings with it another interesting occurrence: Yom Kippur falls on a Thursday. As a result, during Aseres Yemei Teshuvah, the Selichos that include the Yud-Gimel Middos of Rachamim are scheduled to be recited on Tuesday. Since Krias HaTorah takes place on Monday, there are various minhagim as  Some communities switch the Selichos of Yom Revii with those of yom Chamishi in order to recite the Yud-Gimel Middos on Monday, which has Krias HaTorah and  also recite י"ג מדות before laining.

However,  in BMG  this  year, the Yud-Gimel Middos will be recited on Tuesday as scheduled, not on Monday even though Monday includes Krias HaTorah. In the past they did switch it but have changed since the year 5781.

More details on this topic can be found in this week’s Alei Zayis publication.

My opponent and the Trump administration will stop at nothing,”. “They will completely weaponize the federal government to achieve what they want.”

- Trump: It was just revealed that the FBI had secretly placed, against all Rules, Regulations, Protocols, and Standards, 274 FBI Agents into the Crowd just prior to, and during, the January 6th Hoax. This is different from what Director Christopher Wray stated, over and over again! That’s right, as it now turns out, FBI Agents were at, and in, the January 6th Protest, probably acting as Agitators and Insurrectionists, but certainly not as “Law Enforcement Officials.” I want to know who each and every one of these so-called “Agents” are, and what they were up to on that now “Historic” Day. Many Great American Patriots were made to pay a very big price only for the love of their Country. I owe this investigation of “Dirty Cops and Crooked Politicians” to them! Christopher Wray, the then Director of the FBI, has some major explaining to do. That’s two in a row, Comey and Wray, who got caught LYING, with our Great Country at stake. WE CAN NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN TO AMERICA

-Trump: I’d like to thank Kash Patel, and the outstanding members of the FBI, for their brilliant work on the recent Indictment of the Worst FBI Director in the History of our Country, James “Dirty Cop” Comey. The level of enthusiasm by the FBI was incredible, but only caused by the fact that they knew Comey for what he is, and was, a total SLIMEBALL! Again, thank you to the FBI and, specifically, those that worked on this case with U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan, and the DOJ. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! There is no way he can explain his way out of it. He is a Dirty Cop, and always has been, but he was just assigned a Crooked Joe Biden appointed Judge, so he’s off to a very good start. Nevertheless, words are words, and he wasn’t hedging or in dispute. He was very positive, there was no doubt in his mind about what he said, or meant by saying it. He left himself ZERO margin of error on a big and important answer to a question. He just got unexpectedly caught. James “Dirty Cop” Comey was a destroyer of lives.  Israel at war day 721

Trump plan for Gaza? From a source familiar with the proposal, CNN has just reported that the American plan for Gaza calls for the release of ALL hostages within two days from the moment the agreement comes into effect, in exchange for a GRADUAL withdrawal of IDF forces from the Gaza Strip.
According to the source, the plan does NOT include a defined timetable for the withdrawal of IDF forces; it includes a commitment that Israel will not attack Qatar again; it stipulates that there will be no forced displacement of the population from Gaza; and it states that Hamas will have NO role in the governance of the Strip

- Trump: “It's looking like we have a deal on Gaza. I think it's a deal that will get the hostages back. It's going to be a deal that will end the war.”

- Netanyahu at the UN General Assembly: I want to do something I've never done before. I want to speak from this forum directly to those hostages through loudspeakers. I've surrounded Gaza with loudspeakers, connected to this microphone, in the hope that our dear hostages will hear my message. And I'll stay it first in Hebrew, and then in English.
Our brave heroes, this is Prime Minister Netanyahu, speaking to you live from the United Nations. We have not forgotten, not even for a second. The people of Israel are with you. We will not falter, and we will not rest, until we bring all of you home.

-Massive protest walk out in the UN general assembly hall as Netanyahu takes the stage

"Weak leaders in the world folded under pressure." "Leaders who publicly condemn us privately thank us. They tell me how much they value Israel's superb intelligence services".
"To the remaining Hamas leaders, to the jailers of our hostages, I say: Lay down your arms. Let my people go. Free the hostages, all of them, the whole 48. Free them now. If you do, you will live. If you don’t, Israel will hunt you down".

- Soldiers in Gaza said this morning they were sent to escort trucks with loudspeakers several kilometers inside Gaza, even though Netanyahu’s office claimed the speakers were only placed along the border.
Reservists said it was a dangerous mission requiring tank and artillery cover while in the presence of many Gazans.
Parents of soldiers even sent a furious letter to Eyal Zamir and Israel Katz, accusing the government of “endangering soldiers for a political stunt.”

-Washington Post: Satellite images reveal that precisely after the attacks, Iran increased the scope of work at the mysterious underground facility in Mount Kolang, near the nuclear facility in Natanz that Israel and the West attacked during the war. Iran refused to disclose the purpose of the underground facility, which is supposed to be deeper than the nuclear facility bombed in Fordow, and Iran hinted that when work began there in 2020, it was related to the atomic program and centrifuge activity

Eating Pas Yisrael During Aseres Yemei Teshuva

Eating Pas Yisrael During Aseres Yemei Teshuva
By Rabbi Doniel Neustadt shlita  (Torah.org)
As part of their overall strategy to guard the Jewish People from assimilating among the nations of the world, our Sages decreed against eating [kosher] bread that was baked by a non-Jew.(1) This edict was one of several which served to limit social interaction between Jews and non- Jews. Thus non-Jewish wine, bread, and certain cooked foods were all declared off-limits for the Jew.(2)

Since bread is so much more of a dietary staple than other cooked foods – indeed, the Rabbis call it chayei nefesh, the vital element of the diet – the decree against non-Jewish bread was not as widely accepted as the decrees against other cooked foods.(3) Consequently, in many communities where quality Jewish-baked bread was not easily available, it became customary to eat pas palter, which is kosher bread that is baked in non- Jewish bakeries. The rationale behind allowing pas palter is that eating bread that was baked in a non-Jewish bakery does not lead to mingling and socializing with non-Jews.(4)
