Trump May Hold Rally at Metlife Stadium this Summer

WILDWOOD, NJ — Speaking at his rally Tuesday night in South Jersey, President Donald Trump mused about speaking at MetLife Giants/Jets stadium in East Rutherford this summer.

"You know they all say Republicans can't win (in New Jersey). I say tell me why," said Trump before a crowd of tens of thousands this evening. "They said, do you want to move this to the Meadowlands? I said no, I want to do this in South Jersey. We want to be with our friends."

"But we could have filled up the Meadowlands arena two or three times. Maybe we'll do it during the summer. Should we do it during the summer?" he asked, to a roar of approval from the crowd.

In part of his speech tonight, Trump took special aim at sanctuary cities, referring to incidents in Cumberland County (South Jersey) and Middlesex County, where people suspected of being in the U.S. illegally were accused of crimes, but released by local authorities. In Middlesex County, the suspect was released by the county jail and went on to kill three people in Missouri, police there said. South Jersey native KellyAnne Conway was there Tuesday evening, as was former Gov. Chris Christie.

"Mr. President, I think South Jersey is Trump country," said Conway in her signature accent unique to the region. "Having the best economy in the world, two new trade deals, two Supreme Court justices, two dead terrorists — that's two terms."

According to South Jersey Congressman Jeff Van Drew, 175,000 people signed up to hear Trump speak tonight in Wildwood. Trump was there at the behest of Van Drew, who famously left the Democratic party in December over the Democrats' impeachment proceedings against Trump. Trump praised him on Tuesday night as very brave. Patch.com
