Lakewood Officials confident on Funding Formula Fix for Lakewood

Lakewood officials hint they are hopeful that Gov Murphy will address the funding formula pertaining to Lakewood and other towns. At the recent Township committee meeting a resident asked about the potential shortfall of $30 million for the School district. officials said they are confident that something will be done that the BOE will get its funding from the state. The Mayor said he does not have it in writing but it appears something is in the works. The acting Department of Education commissioner, Lamont Repollet was grilled yesterday at confirmation hearings about the funding formula.

APP reports that "Lakewood school district has bet on Repollet, as a former neighbor on the Jersey Shore when he was superintendent in Asbury Park. The report says that One Lakewood board member, Thea Jackson-Byers, worked for Repollet in Asbury Park schools and Sen. Robert Singer, R-Ocean, said he’d spoken to Repollet about how to fix the funding problem."
