Chabad and Toms River in settlement talks over Discrimination Lawsuit

Chabad of Toms River filed a lawsuit last year against the town claiming anti Semitic hostility towards their efforts to build a shul. APP reports that assistant Township Attorney Anthony Merlino said the two sides continue to discuss settlement terms, but no agreement has been reached. He described the negotiations as   "fits and starts sort of process." 

Rabbi Moshe Gourarie filed in a federal civil rights lawsuit against the township in March 2016, charging that "anti-Semitic hostility" and local opposition to the township's ultra-Orthodox Jewish population are the reasons why the Chabad Jewish Center has been told it needs a variance to operate as a house of worship.
