Orthodox women afraid to take the COVID Vaccine

Mixed information on Covid vaccine for younger orthodox women for fears of infertility and pregnancy related issues.

JTA-For much of the last year, the young mothers of Lakewood, New Jersey, have experienced the pandemic as much as a nuisance as a matter of life and death. That’s not to say the community hasn’t experienced its share of outbreaks; it has. Or that families haven’t lost loved ones; they have. But to hear the young mothers of the large Orthodox community tell it, the crisis part of the pandemic had passed. Most people recovered from the virus, they thought, and only the elderly and high-risk needed to continue staying home. And to watch the Instagram videos of the frequent indoor weddings held in the town, where few if any guests wear masks, the dark days of last March have nearly been forgotten.

Private Schools Students in Lakewood Have to pay for Hazardous Bussing

Would you let your child walk to school down Cedarbridge avenue, Cross street, County line, Rt 88 or any other hazardous road with no sidewalks? The answer is that even if you would let, the schools themselves don't allow kids to walk realizing the danger it is for their safety and the school District policy prohibits students from crossing roads deemed to be hazardous. (See below list of  30 streets in Lakewood designated as hazardous roadways.)
In Lakewood The township pays the costs to the BOE for all courtesy and hazardous busing of public school kids. Private school children pay out of pocket by opting in to courtesy busing through the LSTA  a fee which is going up to $180 per year.
At a meeting January 6, 2021 to add amendments to the student transportation rules, the issue of bus safety under 2 miles was brought up but the state responded "traffic safety is not within the scope of the readoption with amendments".
In New Jersey if you are a private school student and don't qualify for mandated busing because you live less than 2 miles away you but it is not safe to walk you still have to pay for busing. NJ Law Whenever a district board of education agrees to provide nonmandated transportation to and from school for reasons of hazard, the district board of education shall adopt a
hazardous busing policy in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:39-1.5. regarding the transportation of students who must walk to and from school along hazardous routes.  The policy shall include a list of hazardous routes in the district requiring the courtesy busing of students and the criteria used in designating the hazardous routes. On the NJ.gov website it states that "Boards of education are not required by law to provide busing for students who live less than remote from school "even for safety reasons".
"Q. Is it a district's responsibility to provide transportation for students who live less than remote from school when hazardous road conditions exist?
A. Boards of education are not required by law to provide busing for students who live less than remote from school even for safety reasons. However, boards are permitted, at their own discretion and expense, to provide transportation for students who reside less than remote from school and may charge the student's parents or legal guardians for this service. Municipalities may also contract with boards of education for this service and charge the parents. This transportation service is called Subscription Busing.

JHS: A Bridge to Brisk: The Life of Rav Dovid Soloveitchik Z"TL

Rav Meshulam Dovid Soloveitchik (1921-2021) lived a long life, in which he successfully formed a bridge between the world of Brisk where he had grown up, to the young impressionable yeshiva students of the 21st century. Having been raised in his father the Brisker Rov's home, he narrowly escaped Europe with most of his family in the early stages of the war. He would later marry into the illustrious Sternbuch family. In the late 1970's he opened his own yeshiva in Jerusalem, where he educated generations of students. As a great Torah scholar, educator, unflinching leader and senior sage, he gained renown worldwide. His passing closes a chapter in Jewish history.

US Dept of Health to Pfizer; Urgent Need for "Normalcy Vaccine"

Att: Ladies and gender-men it's after Tu Bshvat but there's still a shechiyanu for all of us to behold -  the fruitcakes in Washington.

Last weeks' FJJ featured an article about the deterioration of Kavod Malchus  during the tenure of the last administration, but just witness the  meltdown  of decency at Pennsylvania avenue as we speak.

With the federal appointment of someone of an alternative lifestyle orientation to the health dept we've gone from the whitehouse to the freakhouse.

The man  at the helm has alienated many tens of millions of Americans who find his agender as tasteless.

There's a point to be made about this issue in our own backyard.

The mayor of NY, with all the covid mayhem and upheaval he put us through, finally made a mistake and did something right this past summer. He canceled the celebrate Israel parade. Someone told  me how his mizrachi oriented acquaintances  would attend  the parade event each year until it included a float of deviants  who displayed their shameful pride. "How can you go", mused one of the group and that was the end of that.

By its signature theme, the Israeli day parade exacts Independence from the kol yachol the opposite of the Torah portion - Yetzias Mitzrayim and krias yam suf  that we read about this past shabbos.  When you add abomination to the mix  you have the full menu of whatever klal yisrael is not!

In his mind, Deblasio took a precautionary measure against covid spread by removing this event from the calendar. But we all know that a higher source micro manages all that takes place nothing in this world is happenstance. It's entirely possible that the divine preordained  the cancelation of the day's festivities so that the  irreverent
