  1. There was a discussion about this scam of yaknehaz candles a few years ago.

    1. Thank you for rehashing the sinas chinam that went on in that discussion
But for the matter at hand, there is an extensive discussion about this. There is a דין אבוקה, there's an issue with העברה שלא לצורך. See an extensive discussion in R Felder's שיעורי הלכה פרק יח אות ו
Bottom line, follow your Rabbi, don't put down others, and it's definitely not a scam

    2. In that discussion someone wrote that there is absolutely no issur to put two candles together to make an avuka. I think the issue is kibui by having wax inevitably drip from the candle held sideways. it is kibui to remove fuel from a burning ner. In my house we used one ner with no avuka as mentioned by many others

    3. Anon 5:45 - Wax candles are not a modern innovation. Why did not one posek think of this issue until recent years? Why do we not have any halachic precedent for this?

    4. The scam is the price? -Talking about prices seems like the cost of a checked Romaine leaf is worth more than gold - it is really not hard to check it on your own get a light box and you'll save hundreds!

    5. How much are these yaknahoz candles?

    6. They don't make wax candles the way they used to. Do your candles not drip up a storm during bedikas chometz? I'd love to know which candles you use. Although the poskim explicitly say to use these in order to avoid the dripping

  2. For AVUKA - use the wick from one cheap tealight and add it to a second tealight. One can do this on their own!
