- Egyptian sources tell Reuters: "Significant breakthrough" in Cairo talks. The sides agreed on several issues, including a long-term ceasefire. According to the sources cited, despite the progress, disagreements remain, including the issue of the arms in the hands of Hams.
- A group of freed hostages on Monday evening, described their brutal and inhumane experiences in Hamas captivity, and begged for US President Donald Trump to push for the release of those still held hostage by terrorists in the Gaza Strip. Speaking in English at a press conference, released captive Keith Siegel, a native of the US, recounted the horrors he experienced in Gaza and said he is “eternally thankful to President Trump for prioritizing the hostage crisis since day one of his presidency, and bringing me and so many others home.”

- US Navy: F-18 jet crashes into water from USS Harry S. Truman. The USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) lost an F/A-18E Super Hornet assigned to Fighter Squadron (VFA) 136 and a tow launcher while the carrier was operating in the Red Sea, April 28. All crew members were recovered, with one sailor suffering minor injuries.
The F/A-18E was being actively towed in the hangar bay when the tow crew lost control of the aircraft. The aircraft and tow launcher were lost at sea.
