Don't yeshivot (Bais Yaakov) teach bochurim (bachurot) not to get involved with trips to Japan, taking a package of medicines to/from US/Israel, or take silly pictures for money?
ReplyDeleteA bachur who has telegram, has a smartphone, is far from mainstream. Mainstream yeshivos have non-mainstream boys too; they are not looking to be fodder for the next YWN letter to the editor: “My son was not accepted to a mainstream yeshivah and ended up working for Iran.” (aka the boy would've done it anyway - BUT had he gone to the non-mainstream yeshiva that would truly service him, he'd have a filter, and be learning).
DeleteThe Japanese bochurim were mainstream.
DeleteAnd go any day to JFK (I'm sure EWR too) and a nice yiddishe mama will ask you to take a small package of prescriptions. The latter are mostly legit, but it's only asking for trouble.

By the way,I just got an email yesterday from British PM Kier Starmer to launder his money
The problem is they foebid internet, which seems agezeira shein Hatzibur yochoil laamod boh. (or aino Rotzeh) It causes those who go on internet to have no instructions of the dangers involved.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately it is time to face the facts, that like in Gidon's time there were only 300 Sheloi Koru Labaal. There are about 300 who never went on internet or had someone go for them.
It is time to comend those who didn't go & encourage them to keep it up. However we must school those that do go on what not to do.
If the bochur involved is truly guilty then he is a rodef and a moser. It is specifically the more right wing mosdos that stress how terrible both of them are. I was also once a very naive and sheltered 21 year old bochur learning in EY. Yes, an ostensibly frum person who met me in person probably could have gotten me to take drugs telling me it was vitamins or prescription medicine. But there is no way I would have agreed to take and send pictures for an anonymous person who is paying with cryptocurrency. Not realizing there is something sinister with that isn't naivete or "not having been told" to avoid such things. It is at best willful blindness to the potential of being a rodef and a moser.
