As the summer of 5786/2026 begins, the kollel yungeleit of Lakewood and bochurim of BMG are entering their well-deserved bein hazmanim break. This short vacation offers a time to recharge before returning to the shtender for the upcoming Elul Zman.
Of course, limud haTorah continues throughout the community, with many local botei medrashim offering special bein hazmanim programs for bochurim and youngeleit staying local as their wife's are working
Still there's a noticeable shift in pace. During these weeks, Lakewood is often filled with a sense of calm and serenity, as families take time to relax or head out on vacation.
While in the past the streets would noticeably quiet down and traffic would ease during this time, the recent growth of surrounding neighborhoods and nearby towns means that the peaceful, empty roads may soon become a thing of the past.
Well deserved? Short? Compared to any full time job? So indulgent and entitled sounding
ReplyDeleteI, indeed, do know of many jobs which have intense work from sunday - Thursday from 7:30 AM through 10 PM plus 5 more hours on Friday with barely any downtime.
DeleteProjection, much?
Nice repost from last year....
ReplyDeleteIf you can remember a post from a year ago on hefkervelt that wasn't saying anything of significance you may be taking this site too seriously
DeleteWhat a great memory you have.
DeleteTrue. But I kinda feel guilty that I remember Hefkervelt posts from a year ago, but I can't remember the daf I learned two weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteWell as the Gemora say דברי תורה קשין לקנותן ככלי זהב ונוחין לאבדן ככלי זכוכית And as the Baaley Musser add דברי שטות קלים לקנותם וקשים לאבדם...
