Storm Updates March 7, 2018 Lakewood, NJ

-Thursday Morning: LSTA: Thursday bussing for all Lakewood Schools will be regular time, the Girls Elementary School bussing will be on a 90 Minute delay 

-Lakewood BOE: Lakewood Public Schools will run on a 90-minute delayed schedule for Thursday, March 8, 2018.


-8:30 pm Storm tapering off
-Fire on Cross Street put out
- JCP&L  currently NOT providing estimated restoration times for outages due to severe weather
5:15 pm: Outerbridge crossing shut both directions bc/ falling ice. Use Goethals br instead
5:00 pm: - Currently raining in Lakewood 33 degrees
-4:40 pm -  Gourmet Glatt no more Deliveries today, Seasons kosher closing at 5pm.
- Power outage Sunset/New England Village est.  Restoration 6:30
-Prospect street a mess traffic backed up to rt 9

- 5 Chasunas in Lakewood tonight, Chaveirim on standby. 
-4:15 pm-NJ Transit shutting down at 4:30 pm
-Cross & James MVA car into pole James closed West of NPGS West of Prospect vines
-4:00pm: lkwd Commons/ Spruce Expected power restoration 6:30 pm
-Lpd: Avoid Prospect St. bet Cross & Massachusetts serious MVA car into pole downed wires
-Lanes Mill Blocked off by Ridge Avenue
-JCP&L- 1500 Customers lose power at Cross/ Faraday/ Eagle Ridge area
3:45: power outages around Lakewood Commons, Prospect Vines, Albert area
3:30 pm: Storm to intensity now worst of it during rush hour commute
3:00 pm: Power outage Cross & Rt 9 estimated restoration 5:00pm
-Clearstream closed due to hanging wires
2:30- Fire on Cross street from Lightning, roof collapsed road blocked off bet rt 9 & Massachusetts

-2:15 pm: "Thundersnow" and lightning now in Lakewood
1:45 pm Wet snow/sleet now in Lakewood not accumulating yet
-1:00 pm: LPD: Roads starting to freeze and frozen rain expected to turn to snow. 
- Roads are icy accidents reported on the GSP
12:00 pm: Gov. Murphy urges All NJ residents to stay indoors and keep the roads clear. 
-Parents already at work after schools decide on early dismissal

-9:20 am LSTA Running on Friday Dismissal schedule call your school for latest Bus and dismissal information

-9:15 am Lakewood Public Schools will have early Dismissal all after school programs cancelled Dismissal schedule will be: 11:30 a.m. High School and Middle School ,12:15 p.m.  Clifton, Clarke, Oak,1:00 p.m. pruce, Piner, Lakewood Early Childhood Center (LECC)
-Storm is expected to be at its worst Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening.
-LPD 8:00 am: Winter Storm Warning: Rain changing to heavy wet snow this afternoon, possible 4 to 6 inches.  Use Caution When Traveling. 
-All Buses running on regular scheduled time as of this
-Kollel Bus will be going to NYC
-Howell, Jackson School districts closed today

  1. Nice headline. Schools don't decide on anything . They are told. It used to be the school district telling them . Niw its the Lsta telling them .The lsta geys direction from the police . Botyom line is that schools have no say in this and,are just as unhappy as the parents . Their only choice is to force parents to pickup their kids at regular time and that's also not an option in bad weather and with short notice .

  3. My warehouse on Prospet lost power and internet. Going to go home and take a nap. Someone please comment when the area is restored, so i'll know when to go back to work.

  6. Prospect backed up all the way to route 9. If you live there, don't bother. Find a inexpensive hotel and send your family a postcard. They are working on electric lines
