-APP The New Jersey Supreme Court has rejected an appeal from the Lakewood School District, leaving in place a lower-court ruling that the district is not entitled to additional state aid. The earlier decision found that Lakewood’s ongoing financial problems stem from local mismanagement rather than a lack of funding from the state. As a result, the district now faces continued financial uncertainty, including the possibility of a state takeover and a recently announced plan to raise school taxes by an average of $140 per home.
