Police seek info in Robbery

Patch.com LAKEWOOD, NJ — Two men robbed a woman at knifepoint at Greenwald Caterers early Tuesday morning while she was working, Lakewood police said. The 48-year-old woman told police she was working at the catering shop at 40 East 8th St. about 12:30 a.m. when two men came in armed with a knife and a hammer, Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said. The two men then began demanding to know where the money was. When the victim told them she didn't know, one of the suspects grabbed her wallet from a nearby chair and took an undetermined amount of cash, Staffordsmith said.

One of the men then smashed the victim's cell phone with a hammer before fleeing. The woman, meanwhile, locked herself in her office, and when she was sure the men were no longer in the building she started yelling for help. A passerby heard her about 1 a.m. and called police, who then responded to a 911 hangup call, Staffordsmith said.

The woman described the suspects as black men, both about 5-foot-10 with thin builds. They were wearing scarves around their faces and work gloves, she told Officer Daniel Spagnuolo.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Eric Cicerello at 732-363-0200, ext. 5344 Patch
