BOE To Remove Ballot Question Asking Taxpayers for $6 million yearly increase

The Lakewood BOE will vote today at its meeting to rescind its previous item calling for a ballot question this November asking Lakewood taxpayers for a yearly increase of $6 million dollars.
The BOE will authorize the  Business Administrator to notify the Executive Ocean County Superintendent of Schools and Ocean County Clerk of Elections that the Separate Question in the amount of $6,132,973 should be removed from the ballot for the November 5, 2019 general election.

The township initially said it would not have extra funds to cover shortfalls in courtesy busing, but apparently has now come up with the funding issuing a grant to the school distinct in the amount of $2,644,223.
The breakdown is as follows according to the district website
Public Courtesy/Hazardous Busing $1,287,916
Public Afterschool Programs $1,251,561
Nonpublic Related Services $ 104,746

That the Board rescind their approval of Business Administrator Item M. from the July 10,
2019 meeting (contingent upon the Township of Lakewood approving the use of 2018-19
grant carryover funds for the 2019-20 school year and approval of requested Township of
Lakewood grant funds for the 2019-20 school year) and authorize the Business
Administrator to notify the Executive Ocean County Superintendent of Schools and Ocean
County Clerk of Elections that the Separate Question in the amount of $6,132,973 should be
removed from the ballot for the November 5, 2019 general election.

That the Board request approval from the Executive Ocean County Superintendent of
Schools to appropriate $2,644,223 of 2018-19 Extraordinary Aid for use in the 2019-20
school year (contingent upon the Township of Lakewood approving the use of 2018-19
grant carryover funds for the 2019-20 school year and approval of requested Township of
Lakewood grant funds for the 2019-20 school year) as follows:

  1. In other words, taxes are paying for this without our consent? If there's extra money either I should get a tax reduction or asked permission to donate to the boe. I already pay boe taxes.
