NWS: Severe Thunderstorms and Flash Flooding Likely Tuesday in Central and Southern Jersey

Trends indicate a southward shift of the flash flood and severe thunderstorm threats. The occurrence of these hazards is between about 3 PM and 11 PM. Thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area on Tuesday. Some of the storms are expected to be severe, with damaging winds the primary threat. However, hail and a few tornadoes are possible as well.

Areas of 1-2 inches of rainfall are expected, with localized amounts up to 5 inches possible. Much of this rain may occur in a short period of time, which would lead to instances of flash flooding. Urban and low-lying areas would be particularly susceptible.
The primary time window for these hazards is from early afternoon through late evening.
