Jackson BOE To Bus Lakewood students
The A Jackson Board of ed sent letters to parents of children enrolled in Lakewood schools and eligible for busing, that they will be busing them instead of giving aid in Lieu for their own transportation. This is great news to parents who were car pooling making multiple pick ups and drop offs. Jackson BOE has its own fleet of school buses that will transport the students. Smaller schools that are located near each other will combine students on the same bus. by law any student who is eligible received a check of $1000 as aid in lieu but the parents had to arrange their own transportation or the LSTA serviced some of the stops at the Jackson Lakewood border. This will also potentially free up more routes for the LSTA and can potentially reduce the time students sit on the bus. The measure is also expected to be a cost savings to the township.

Mixed bussing?
ReplyDeleteBack in the day when the cheder was in the legion building we had mixed busses
DeleteMany years ago when busing started to be required south of the lake, the "Bais Yaakov" girls (before it was named Bais Faiga) and the Cheder boys from south of the lake were on the same bus. My children were on that bus and grew up to be ehrliche yidden B"H.
ReplyDeleteThat’s probably because they had Ehrlicha parents and most of the chinuch was from home. Unfortunately that is not the case with many of the younger generation. They rely solely on the schools to provide chinuch.
DeleteAccording to NJ Law the Jackson BOE will have to provide busing from September 2 - June 30th including legal holidays
ReplyDeleteWill they provide busing on all these dates?
This is major news! This was a major inconvenience for parents there and made it very hard for older families with a few kids in school to move to Jackson. Some families even moved back to Lakewood mainly because of bussing.
