Governor Murphy of NJ signed legislation on Friday requiring public and private high schools across NJ to carry life-saving antidotes As New Jersey continues to grapple with an opioid addiction epidemic.
NJ.com reports The bipartisan legislation requires public and private high schools to have Narcan or a similar substance on hand. It will allow school nurses or other trained employees to administer the antidotes to anyone on school grounds.
The Garden State is on pace to see more than 3,000 people die from overdoses in 2018, the equivalent of the entire population of Saddle River.
The law which takes effect Dec. 1 will require governing bodies of public and private schools to develop policies for the emergency administration of an opioid antidote, based on guidelines from the state Department of Education. Both houses of the New Jersey Legislature overwhelmingly passed the bill in June -- 39-0 in the state Senate and 72-0 in the state Assembly.

ReplyDeleteFake police cars all over town are a public nuisance and danger. Volunteers are great. But if I face danger only to Flag down an official looking nobody . It's wrong.
All volunteer vehicles should be marked what they are in a manner that clearly doesn't confuse them with law enforcement .
