Torah Links is looking to build a much needed school and home for its Lakewood fellowship program. The future site will be on Central Avenue next door to Chabad of Lakewood.
Rabbi Gruman testified previously in front of the Planning board about the Lakewood fellowship program hosting undergraduate students with programs through the year such as internship programs and religious programs. There will be a residential facility on the second floor the application allows the maximum of 75 beds. The neighborhood was chosen since they students have developed mentor ship with residents of the area over the years. The pre med students have been mentored by doctors who live in the area and this one building will help consolidate everything under one roof. Its important to have it surrounded by a neighborhood that supports it. Regarding Parking the plan has 53 parking spots, most students do not have their own car most of the students are transported by 2-3 shuttle vehicles. No outside functions will take place at the facility the environment will be distraction free to the students.
The application will continue to be heard this evening at the Planning board meeting.
Application approved.
