Hamodia.com-The Jewish community received with great sorrow the news of the petirah of Reb
Moshe Binik, z”l, one of the pillars of chessed of the community, at the age of 81. Mr. Binik was the founder of Boro Park’s KRM Kollel Supermarket which, at the time of its opening, took a completely novel approach to helping those in need. Today, together with Moishe’s Discount supermarket in Flatbush, it is one of the largest kosher supermarkets in the country. Mr. Binik always ensured that the stores’ prices be kept low so that those in need and those with large families, ka”h, would be able to put food on their tables b’kavod.
Reb Moshe was also one of the founders of Our Place, an organization that helps kids at risk, as well as an early member of Hatzalah.
The levayah will be held Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at the Shomrei Hadas funeral chapel.
Yehi zichro baruch.
what a remarkable man, too bad that he was chased away years ago when he tried bringing KRM supermarket to Lakewood. grocery prices would have been affordable back then and service would have been something Lakewood was not used too.
