Iran Israel Updates Wed Sept 23

- A IDF reservist Neria Dov ben Chana, son of Israel’s U.S. Ambassador Yechiel Leiter, was seriously wounded Wednesday in a car-ramming attack at the Macaabim checkpoint near Route 443. He was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in serious condition. The attacker was shot and killed at the scene. Please daven for נריה דב בן חנה.
This is not the first tragedy to strike the Leiter family: Ambassador Leiter’s eldest son, Maj. Moshe Yedidya Leiter, was killed in combat in Gaza on November 10, 2023, while leading IDF forces

- Ambassador Yechiel (Michael) Leiter: I am grateful to the IDF, to the medical team at Shaare Zedek who are now fighting to save the life of Neria Dov ben Chana, and for the prayers of the people of Israel. I believe in the power of prayer, and I believe that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen. Neria needs a miracle. Neria continued to serve in the reserves after losing his older brother, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, of blessed memory. Since October 7th, he has served hundreds of days in the reserves on multiple fronts. Palestinian terrorism seeks to uproot the people of Israel from their land. They choose death - we choose life.

- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that a deal with Iran would involve hard work over a period of time, telling reporters that US President Donald Trump also has military options

- Netanyahu ahead of his speech at the UN: “I’m going tonight to New York to defend the State of Israel and IDF soldiers from the UN podium. I will fight against the lies. I will fight for the truth of our soldiers, for the truth of our country. Yes, there will also be surprises

- Tehran is reviewing Washington’s response to Iran’s proposal to end hostilities, a senior Iranian official tells Reuters. The development indicates that diplomatic exchanges between the two sides remain active following indirect talks mediated by regional countries. The talks covered reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports. Iran has now received the American response and is reviewing it.

- Rubio: Trump doesn’t think the world ‘needs a West Bank crisis’ right now “The president has made it clear… that we don’t want to see additional flashpoints there, given everything that’s going on in the region now,”“The last thing this region needs is an additional flashpoint, and the last thing we thi

- The U.S. delegation walked out as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the United Nations General Assembly. The walkout came as Pezeshkian criticized the United States and rejected accusations that Iran supports terrorism.

- Iran now announces there is no longer time for negotiations, only time to act, with SNSC Secretary Mohsen Rezaei declaring the Americans must first fulfill Iran’s seven conditions — “otherwise, neither the Strait of Hormuz will be opened, nor will negotiations begin, per Iran’s State TV. Rezaei said no talks are underway in New York, that Foreign Minister Araghchi has already delivered the seven conditions to intermediaries, and that Tehran will not return to the Islamabad memorandum or the earlier Bern track. The publicly named terms include an end to the war on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian funds, and the lifting of the US naval blockade.

  2. Ambassador Leiter's family are/were yeshiva bochurim who are not arikim.
The ambassador was born in Scranton PA and made Aliyah in early 80s, hence his children are US citizens.

    2. How sad.
They were Yeshiva bochurim, they could have stayed in the Beis Hamedrash, and they chose not to.
I don't judge their decision, there is a strong wind pushing people out of the Beis Hamedrash, and sadly some of that wind is sourced in the Beis Hamedrash.
But it's truly sad that this had to happen to someone who could have contributed to Klal Yisroel on a higher level.

    3. 5:28 PM Indeed how sad that some people here lack basic decency. You say you “don't judge their decision,” immediately before explaining why you think their decision was a tragic waste of what they could have become. Whatever your beliefs about yeshiva and the army are, surely the moment when discussing grieving families in pain that is the time to daven for them and not your judgment. Even when people were killed in a terrorist attack on a beach on Shabbos Rav Moshe Feinstein was upset at someone who said had they not been mechalal shabbos they would not have been killed. And while Rav Moshe may have been too left for a guy like you, Rav Reuven Grozovsky also wrote in Kuntres Rashyim U'Mumrim that it is wrong to think and talk that way. Based on the Gemora of כיון שלקה הרי הוא אחיך. Kal V'Chomer when we are talking about Shomrei Torah U'Mitzvos.

  3. Other public demands of Iran are keeping their nuclear material, including US permission to keep it. Also, giving them billions in cash before any compliance on their part
And continuing to fund anti Jewish terrorism
