New school Bais Yaakov of Ocean County to open after Ateres Ziporah was closed

A new girls elementary  school by the name Bais Yaakov of Ocean County will open in Lakewood  servicing the greater Lakewood area grades primary thru 8th. The school is in place of the Ateres Ziporah school that was shut down. The school is expected to take over the children from Ateres Tziporah and others.

Due to the amazing growth which we are privileged to witness in Lakewood and the surrounding area,  there is a strong need for additional schools to service the community. In light of this, and with great siyata dishmaya, a group of dedicated askanim and baalei batim have joined forces to address this need. With much anticipation and excitement, we are pleased to announce the opening of Bais Yaakov of Ocean County, a new elementary school for girls from Primary through 8th grade. The school will be housed in a beautiful building on Prospect Street and aims to provide its students with a chinuch par excellence.

Rabbi Hershy Rosenbaum of New York has graciously agreed to accept a role of leadership and is well positioned to lead Bais Yaakov of Ocean County to success. Rabbi Rosenbaum is the former executive director of Yeshivas Chasan Sofer of Boro Park and comes with many years of experience in the field of Chinuch. In addition, he has given several mosdos invaluable direction and assistance in times of need, helping to turn them into successful institutions.

Mrs. Walter has graciously agreed to be in touch with all parents of prospective students personally. Parents are encouraged to call her and she will be more than happy to answer any questions they may have. The hanhalah of Bais Yaakov of Ocean County is looking forward to an exciting year of growth, learning and creativity; and especially, to giving each student the individual care and attention every child deserves.”

At this point it's best to stay quiet and hope for the best. Time will tell.

  2. Some questions. Why did they have to close Ateres Tziporah and open a new school in its place? Why couldn't they keep Ateres Tziporah open with this new person running it? Who decides which schools are saved and which schools are allowed to die? What are those decisions based on? Why did they have to bring in someone from NY to run the school? We don't have anyone in Lakewood who knows how to do that? And why oh why did they have to wait until school started to do this? Why did the children and their families have to go through such bizyonos? Any answers?

    2. No on closed anything. Ateres Tziporah was not being run properly and ran into financial issues more than once, and therefore closed down. Why bring in someone from NY? Maybe because he has experience in running successful mosdos? Maybe because no one in Lakewood stepped up to do it? And why open last minute? Maybe because you did not offer to do it so they needed to put everything in place.

For the same reason there are no Lakewood mechanchim on the Yated Chinuch roundtable even though the overwhelming majority of parents who read it probably live in Lakewood.

For the same reason Rav Elyah Brudny has an office in Lakewood that he comes to a few times a week even though he doesn't live here.

      Etc.

    1. Hashem and mashiach are waiting for our serious international teshuva as a loving nation together.

You think this was just coincidence? Nothing just happens by accident. Every tragedy has a wake up call message directly from Hashem.

Now Hashem is waiting for our serious international teshuva with achdus together-on all levels from frum to reform etc...- to make all tzaros come to a full halt and bring mashiach.

It's completely in our hands when this happens. If we don't do our hishtadlus and our part of teshuva then there's no one to blame but ourselves and don't blame Hashem for the tragic time we are R"L in of non-stop horrific tragedies R"L

MAY we all wake up ASAP

  4. It was done last minute because all other options did not work out. The plan was that the schools will take all AT kids and they were pushing parents to send to shalom Torah academy

In the end the schools did not take in the kids and the public pressure was not looking good for the power who shut down AT leaving over 100 kids with no school.

  5. This was a power grab trying to claim ownership over the greater Lakewood area. The Lakewood askanim should let other towns grow instead of trying to control it.

  6. Actually as a parent of AT I would only want my child in the new school if Mrs Insel is the principal. This is how the parents feel. She was actually offered the position as principal of the new BY of Ocean County but she still hasn't made a decision. We are all hoping she'll accept the offer.
