ReplyDeleteYou write "New York and New Jersey have not yet opted in, so families in those states cannot currently take advantage of the credit."
ReplyDeleteThat's wrong. Anyone, in any state, can take advantage of the tax credit by donating to a scholarship organization in a state that did opt in. What we will miss out on, if the governor doesn't opt in, is the scholarship grants that can only be given to students in states that opted in.
Again, people in all states can and should donate to help other yidden with their schar limud. It will cost you nothing as you will get it back as a tax refund.
Thanks for that update.
