When Satmar activists have spent many tens of thousands of dollars to put up a Times Square billboard in defense of Mamdani on the question of do NYC Jews feel unsafe under him, it becomes difficult to see them as being on a fundamentally different page from him—or to accept that their anti-Zionism is any more Torah-based or any less politically motivated than his.
