APP reports Route 9 between Lakewood and Toms River is slated for improvements. But the work on the state Transportation Department's to-do list is not what many have hoped for. Seven miles of the thoroughfare in Lakewood and Toms River will be repaved, and nine intersections .. will be upgraded by widening and adding sidewalks, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. There are no plans to widen the road. In Lakewood several intersections will get upgraded traffic signals, curb ramps, sidewalks and guardrails at Locust, Chestnut, Prospect, Pine, Main and First streets as well as Central Avenue. That's your spin. I just read the article . It says that the, widening part is in early development and the other stuff will be done first. So essentially, they do have plans for widening in the future but those plans are in early development. That is not the same as saying that they have no plans for widening.
ReplyDeleteThey said 18 years ago when they redid rt9 that the guy who was in charge was a genius. He made sure his son would have work 20 years down the road. Seems like the son learned a good lesson from dad. Hes doing the same.
ReplyDeleteLol. That's all I can do at this point.
ReplyDeleteFranklin recalled a meeting from FIFTY YEARS AGO about widening route 9. Yeah, this is so happening in our lifetimes.
someone in jackson opened jacksonleaks.com....... We need it here
ReplyDeleteNo we don't. We need this site to shut down. Too much loshen hora.
DeleteSo who do you work for? The VAAD? Ak? Or MM? Or builders?
DeleteIf They would all be honest true people and not corrupt by just doing their job as honest community leaders then we can all face the truth and admit that this website of HV would not exist.
Its sad and a big chillul Hashem all the corruption they do all for themselves and their pockets without giving a crap about you. Is that Called leaders?

We need them to redo the Oak Street intersection as well.
ReplyDeletejacksonleaks is not loshen hara..we need it here
ReplyDeleteIt costs hundreds of millions to widen the Nine because every property needs to be bought off the owners...then obviously there is the actual work.
ReplyDeleteLet's be honest.
Why does work need to be done south of Route 70 in Toms River? If we restricted it to Lakewood - that is from the Lake to Route 70 it would cost astronomically less.
And that is where the brunt of the traffic is. Yes, there is some traffic further down, but nowhere near what calls for expansion. There are roads more clogged that never get widened. Its only because Route 9 in Lakewood needs it so we are also discussing Toms River.
Why is nobody talking about this? It costs so much - so lets focus on what needs work, not extras so come across so even handed. No not just the areas that have Jews - we all need work. Stop it. Grow up. Yes, its because of the builders. The massive developments that pour into a two lane highway. Well, the township should have awoken years ago, now thousands of motorists pay the price daily. But if you want to fix the problem don't go running to Toms River and add so much to the project. HH - have you discussed this? Can you be a voice of reason? Thank you.

ReplyDeleteGuys, get through your heads. Widening Route 9 is NOT HAPPENING. I repeat, NOT HAPPENING. If it didn't happen yet, it's just not going to happen.
ReplyDeleteJust as an aside, do you really want Route 9 wider? Do you want a 4 lane highway with all the homes so close to the the road. Have you ever been there on Shabbos? The pedestrian traffic is quite heavy. I don't think a 4 lane highway is such a good idea.
Your thoughts?
