Harav Zev Tikotzky, zt”l, a noted talmid chacham who was marbitz Torah to hundreds of talmidim for decades and a talmid of the Mirrer Yeshivah during its sojourn in Shanghai, and later of Harav Aharon Kotler, zt”l, was niftar on Wednesday, 4 Kislev. He was the father-in-law of, ybl”c, Harav Malkiel Kotler, shlita, Rosh Yeshivah, Bais Medrash Govoha of Lakewood, and was in his late eighties.
In his hesped, Rav Kotler described his father-in-law as the epitome of one who is “yoshev b’ohel shel Torah.” “He didn’t have [worldly possessions], and he didn’t want them, for him everything was in Torah,” he said at the levayah held Wednesday afternoon in Bais Medrash Govoha.

Petirah of Harav Zev Tikotzky Z"TL The shver of the Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva Harav Malkiel Kotler shlita. The Levaya will take place today 4:00pm at the BMG Yoshon Bais Medrash. Kevura will be in Eretz Yisrael. He was 88 years old.
From Matzav: 
Rav Tikotzky, a European survivor who went through Shanghai, came to the U.S. after the war and went to Lakewood, becoming a talmid of Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l at Beth Medrash Govoah. He served for decades as a maggid shiur in New York and later relocated to Lakewood. 
Rav Tikotzky is survived by his devoted wife, Rebbetzin Rivka Tikotzky; their children, Rebbetzin Chana Leah Kotler, wife of Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoah; Rav Moshe Tikotzky, Rav Eli Tikotzky, Rav Gavriel Tikotzky, Rav Aron Tikotzky, Rav Avrom Tikotzky and Reb Yossi Tikotzky; and many grandchildren.

Gedolim call on Klal Yisrael to daven for  Harav Shteinman shlita whose condition took a turn for the worse at  the ICU of Maynei Hayeshua Hospital in Bnei Brak. This comes in the shadow of the Levaya of his daughter Rebbetzin Rochel Devora Berlin a''h. The Rosh Yeshiva was not notified about his daughters passing. He was transfered into the ICU after his fever went up . Doctors said he is unconscious R"L some reports say he is alert. Name for Tehillim:

Howell PD Release Video in response to Article

A Lakewood couple were on the way to the hospital to have a baby. The wife was in Labor and her husband was speeding to get there. They were stopped and ticketed on Squankum Road by a Howell Police officer.
In response to the story that was posted on the Lakewood Scoop website, Howell PD issued a press release along with a video of the body worn camera from the police officer giving the ticket.

Am Yisrael, Listen Up!
Giyus, the army draft is here in real time. The Israeli government is proactive to fill the I.D.F. with yeshiva-oriented recruits. Things aren't the way they used to be.

Since the inception of the State, an agreement was in place, that allowed b'nei Yeshiva a 'pitur,' or deferment from military service. Years ago, the Bayit Yehudi party revised the 'chok' with Shivyon Benetal – everyone must contribute and share the burden of the country's defense. Still, whether you embrace Bnei Brak's philosophy, or in contrast, are of "Peleg" orientation, all will acknowledge that the government's on-line ad tells a different story.

Witness its text: "Rotzim l'shanot, rotzim l'hishtalev." Literally: 'They want change [for themselves] and opt to blend in with society.
A prominent Israeli attorney brings us up to speed. He employs similar verbiage to explain the Memshala's intentions:

One cannot ignore the fact that the authorities have decided to incorporate the Haredi people into its institutions and secular way of living. The means to achieve these goals begins – and ends, with the army. "Tzavah" is a tool being used to incorporate and alter the Haredi community to its liking. 
In short, Yahadut's shortfall is the army's livelihood ר"ל.

Driving around Lakewood you may have noticed some lawn signs with messages about picking up the boys. As the days get colder the Bochurim dont always have busing available and are asking the good hearted drivers to pick them up and offer them a ride. Adding some humor to their plight, the boys launched an awareness campaign by placing various lawn signs at the corner of Pine street and MLK. The signs read "get a mitzva" "dont be like sedom" "pickup our boys".  Last week Thursday the bochurim gathered at that intersection holding up the signs to passing motorists.
So while your driving in the comfort of your car and you pass yeshiva boys who are standing in a safe place, pull over and give em a ride.

A SPECIAL SHABBOS IN LAKEWOOD

I always knew that the shul I daven in was special. Khal Divrei Chaim is a basement Shtibel with a mostly chassidishe group of mispalelim. I never realized how special it actually is until this last Shabbos. About 2 weeks ago the gabbai of our shul received a phone call from a family in Kansas City. They told him that they were making a wedding at Lake Terrace on the following  Sunday and needed a place to make an aufruf before the wedding. All they needed was 2 aliyahs . They wanted to know if we could help them. They had called every shul nearby and were told that they couldnt be guaranteed an aliyah. Our  gabbai and a few other members decided that we should make them a proper aufruf. They ordered candy to throw,  kugels and hot food and everything else needed for a Kiddush. The Rebbe of our shul of was more than happy to oblige of course.

We had no idea who these people were. When I walked into shul this past shabbos morning, I was surprised to see a veritable cross section of all types of Jews.  There were yarmulkes in every color,  size and fabric. There were people with jackets and  without jackets. It was definitely not the crowd that normally attends our shul. 

One thing that I noticed immediately was that none of the members of our shul looked uncomfortable or judgmental in any way. Everyone was happy and smiling . It almost seemed that everyone was in a better mood than usual hosting these friendly people. The chosson got his Aliyah. Candy was thrown. Davening was finished. And the kiddush began. I watched in awe as my fellow shul  members who I assume are not usually exposed to people from outside their community treated these fellow Jews as equals.  It was truly amazing to watch people from opposite spectrums of Judaism interacting with one another as if they knew each other their whole lives. 
As I walked home from shul I thought to myself this is truly what Lakewood is all about.

This wasn't a Kiruv event, or a fundraiser. It was an impromptu event that showed me what true yiddishkeit is all about. 
Our gabbai, who is a member of Bikur cholim, is very young, but he already understands what makes us Yidden so special. We are more than our differences.

Report: Route 9 improvements will begin in 2019 No plans of widening the Road

APP reports Route 9 between Lakewood and Toms River is slated for improvements. But the work on the state Transportation Department's to-do list is not what many have hoped for. Seven miles of the thoroughfare in Lakewood and Toms River will be repaved, and nine intersections .. will be upgraded by widening and adding sidewalks, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. There are no plans to widen the road. In Lakewood several intersections will get  upgraded traffic signals, curb ramps, sidewalks and guardrails at Locust, Chestnut, Prospect, Pine, Main and First streets as well as Central Avenue. Leil Shishi at Gourmet Glatt canceled by Rabbonim

After pressure from Rabbonim the Leil Shishi event at Gourmet Glatt Lakewood has been canceled. It was initially a for men only event and closed for bochurim. Composer Yossi Green and Singer Shlomo Simcha were going to debut a new album.

R' Yossi Green Tweeted:  Layl Shishi event in Lakewood has been called off. The Rabbonim didn't see it as a proper idea. For us it's an opportunity to be Mekayem מצוה לשמוע דברי חכמים! For me that always comes first. We always hope to do events that will be מקדש שם שמים, but if it doesn't meet approval of דעת תורה, then it's out.

Traffic Alert: Verrazano Bridge Closure Tomorrow NYC Marathon

Due to the the NYC Marathon, both levels of the  Verrazano bridge will close from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.  this Sunday, November 5, 2017,  and the Bay Street and Lily Pond Avenue exits of the Staten Island Expressway will also shut down from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. The MTA will also close the upper level of the bridge in both directions at 11 p.m. on Saturday to prepare the roadway for the marathon

Traffic Advisory: Indefinite lane closure on northbound GSP exit 109 local

NJTA - ADVISORY: Damage forces indefinite lane closure on northbound GSP in Middletown.  The right lane of the northbound Garden State Parkway local roadway just north of Exit 109 in Middletown will be closed indefinitely for emergency bridge repairs.

The structure carrying the Parkway over Middletown-Lincroft Road was damaged this afternoon when it was struck by a back hoe being hauled on the bed of a trailer.

Pirchei Melava Malka This Motzei Shabbos New Lower Price

The Pirchei Agudas Yisrael of Lakewood will have its Annual Melava Malka ths Motzei Shabbos for 5th-8th grade boys. It will take place at Bais Faiga hall following Avos Ubanim. This year the price is $10 a member and $12 for non members. Previous years it was at $15.
