Coastal flooding is already happening in Wildwood, New Jersey as seen in this photo. Just because Joaquin doesn't make landfall does not mean there will be no impacts. Anyone in a coastal community in New Jersey, Long Island(both north and south shores) and elsewhere needs to pay close attention. The persistent strong easterly winds will pile water up and they won't have time to cycle out during tide changes. Some areas could see moderate or even major coastal flood issues thru this weekend.

New 6z GFS continues east trend for Joaquin and is heading towards the Euro out to sea solution. It now has it missing the NYC metro area and the mid Atlantic states. Right no
w trend is our friend for a miss. Hitting mid Atlantic not off the table yet, but a miss is looking better thanks to a system to the right of Joaquin. If that system wss not there, it would be a guaranteed landfall. As long as it continues to influence Joaquin it will miss, let's hope it does as nobody needs a landfalling hurricane. Regardless of whether it misses or not, there will still be some coastal flooding and rain around.
