- The Lakewood Township Committee held a brief 2 minute meeting Thursday to introduce amendments to the 2026 municipal budget, after approval by the Local Finance Board. Officials blame the looming tax increase largely on cuts in state aid and the lack of FEMA reimbursement for last winter’s snow-removal costs. Critics are questioning why the township has not also proposed significant spending cuts, reductions in high salaries, or changes to tax abatements before passing the increase. A public hearing and final vote on the 2026 budget is scheduled for September 23. The meeting was held on zoom, a reporter for APP attempted to speak during public comments ut there was some technical difficulties.
- The Keren Olam HaTorah fund is shifting from relying mainly on wealthy donors in chutz Laaretz to involving the broader Torah community, after the falling dollar reduced donations by about 20% and institutional needs continued to grow. As part of the new model, 80 seminaries and thousands of Bnos Yisroel are participating in the emergency “L’maan Torasecha” campaign to support the Torah world.
There was some criticism in the Israeli media over the idea of using seminary girls as fundraisers. Others suggest the campaign could also serve as an opportunity to have the girls vote in the upcoming elections and encourage support for Degel HaTorah after receiving the guidance of the Gedolim

How about the state attorney general suing the education department for discriminating against Jews who wish to send their children to private schools. (And Catholic and Muslim families.)
ReplyDeleteSince the attorney general is in charge of police, how about prosecuting people driving pick-up trucks with white yellow and green flags driving through Jewish areas, like I saw on Madison Ave on Shabbat? That is an overt threat against Jews.
basicly, all my israeli relatives sent us emails telling us that they have to reach their goal and why don't we help out Adirei HaTorah? I answered them, we've already been giving them for the last two years! Good Morning America!
