  1. This whole “achdus” campaign feels like deja vu. Didn’t we hear the same thing last time “vote together and you’ll get tuition relief”? That promise vanished the second the election ended. Now they’ve just swapped slogans and expect everyone to forget.
Meanwhile, nothing’s changed for regular families. Taxes keep climbing, CHS is still out, housing is impossible, food prices are crazy, and traffic gets worse by the day. The only people gaining from this “strong voice” are the few who use it to help themselves.

It’s honestly sad how they can stand there with a straight face and talk about unity while the tzibbur keeps getting played. Achdus is a beautiful thing when it’s real, not when it’s used as a campaign strategy.

    1. Anon 8:11,

You’re so full of baloni. Are you that foolish to even think that tuition relief in a majority democrat state will be delivered in under 2 years??

Rome wasn’t built in a day and BH at least our recently elected Assemblyman has put the process of getting tuition relief in process.

Now that he’s invested tremendous efforts and groundwork to create the federal infrastructure for alleviating this financial hardship, the next step will be in Trenton.

So, hold your horses a bit and stay focused. With the koach of achdus and a positive attitude we’ll reach the finish line hopefully very soon.

      All the best.

      you're full of baloney
They promised to expand rt.9 a decade ago.We are still waiting
They, last election, virtually guaranteed us a revolution if we just ignore our better judgement & follow them

    4. Yitz, you’re just repeating the talking points, but let’s be honest they knew from day one there was zero chance of tuition vouchers with a Democrat-run government in NJ. The federal bill under Trump had absolutely nothing to do with Assemblyman Schnall, despite all his trips to Washington and those “action alert” videos. That was just damage control after the failed “free tuition” promise.

He didn’t need to go to Trenton for that he could’ve stayed in Agudah if he just wanted to talk. The reality is, his placement in Trenton was to help the nursing home chevra and maybe a few others, not the average family struggling to pay bills.

People have every right to be upset. We’ve been played before, and now they expect everyone to fall in line again. Tell us, what’s actually changed? Cost of living? Nothing. Instead, they hijacked Lakewood’s Republican seat and handed it to the Democrats and we’re all supposed to pretend that all is good for the klal?

    5. I voted for Avi & Jack. I believe they will both be great for Lakewood. If Avi needs to butter up some Vaad affiliates on the side, that's Ok with me. Afterall that's how politics has always been.

  3. Just received a robocall from Rabbi Dov Kahan to vote for the VAAD endorsed candidates. Maybe we can call him and ask him why ? So many (taxpayers and renters) feel diseenfrachsed and not represented.

  4. Why do you need to ask here if you can call him back? Pick up the phone and call.

  6. I'm unhappy with the Vaad. I still believe that a united large turnout is the best option for Lakewood. I never believed tuition relief would really happen in NJ, but having met Avi Schnall when he was my sons English teacher, I believe he's a sincere Mentch that is doing his utmost for the Klal. In my opinion the Vaad should be disbanded & a group of representatives from each neighborhood should be chosen in its place.

    1. I also like him and he means well, but I'm upset that he ran as a Democrat (and proudly announced it at the convention). So I will vote for the Republican.

    2. I don't think he had a choice other than to run as a Democrat, otherwise he certainly would have run as a Republican. Avi's not a fool & he understands that Bnei Torah prefer Republicans. I'm sure he had a good reason why he chose to be a Democrat.

  7. We will be starting a new organization in Lakewood that will represent the people (taxpayers and renters). Make sure that we will have in person commitee meetings, Have representation that will do what is best for the people, Tax all commerical buildings to offset the high taxes on residential, Look to have more green space and playgrounds for the people, Change the form of gevenrment to council/Mayor to more accurately reflect the nneeds of all the people in Lakewood. It is time! Stay tuned.

    1. I couldn’t care less about the pride month vote. It took place at the very end of the month anyways. Plus there was zero chance it would fail. More importantly, it had no effect on us whatsoever. It’s a non-issue.
