Lakewood Election:

Following the results of the New Jersey gubernatorial election, Lakewood officials extended their congratulations to Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill, noting their history of collaboration with her during her tenure in Congress. In the days after the election, a message circulated within the community highlighted the exceptionally high voter turnout in Lakewood and other Orthodox areas, describing it as both historic and clearly recognized at all levels of government. The statement underscored the growing civic engagement and influence of the kehila in statewide affairs.

Meanwhihle following the election, more residents in Lakewood are expressing a growing sense of frustration and disconnection from local leadership.

Many feel they no longer have real representation in the township and that no one is truly advocating for their interests or concerns. The sentiment reflects a deeper feeling that community voices are being overlooked in local decision-making.

The 2025 New Jersey turnout is raising some serious questions. The state just recorded its largest surge in voter participation since the 1980s yet Mikie Sherrill’s campaign was, by most accounts, uninspiring and low-energy

Conservative pundits question the high Democrat voter turnout in New Jersey following the election of Mikie Sherrill: Despite that, she managed to win with roughly 1.8 million votes, setting a new record for a gubernatorial candidate and surpassing Phil Murphy’s totals by nearly 450,000. What’s puzzling is that this occurred even as Trump’s approval rating in New Jersey polls higher than Murphy’s. The numbers simply don’t align with the enthusiasm on the ground or the campaign dynamics.It’s worth asking: what exactly drove this historic spike in votes for such a mediocre campaign?
