The law combines sanctions and strict restrictions for failing to meet the targets. This is an excellent law, and this law will pass.(Amit Segal)

They would simply burn them with fire."

In response, the Peleg Yerushalmi individual  told Kan Moreshes: "I do not apologize  I did not threaten. If the ultra-Orthodox Knesset members advance a law that allows forcibly drafting someone into the army and turning him secular, then yes, the Sanhedrin would likely have judged them to be burned."

  1. Al pi peshat Rachel and Leah were none the wiser to their proposed marital prospects with Yaakov, with only Lavan and Yaakov part of the discussion.

In this reading it is Yaakov that emerges as the hero of the story.

    1. They did trade "simonim" at least wedding day eve. And Yaakov gave Rachel the simonim when they first met at the be'er.

      Neither was Yitzhak the wiser

  3. Have there in fact been ugly flyers distributed in Lakewood against Rav Hirsch?
Has there been a protest from the Roshei Yeshivah?

    1. Oh, so they’re required to act only when it lines up perfectly with your agenda?
Fascinating. Because when roshei yeshiva the very leaders you claim to respect call for a beis din to be dissolved and for the community to stop recognizing its rulings, and those calls are openly ignored, suddenly everyone goes silent. Not a word. Not a peep. Total selective outrage. And spare us the tzivus.
When the local media defy the roshei yeshiva publicly, bypass their guidance, and pretend they don’t exist, where are all these moral warriors then? Where’s the noise? Where’s the pressure? Nowhere.
Your inconsistency is so blatant it’s practically glowing. You’re transparent we see right through you.

    2. I didn't write the original comment, but I don't respect those people you claim he respects, for many reasons.
But the fact that they don't decry these filthy pashkevilln, yet feel sheitels and other such unimportant issues warrant disturbing the Yeshiva's schedule, that shows me that i was right not to respect these people.

      Delete
    3. The community is the one that accepts its gedolim, and they have voted with their feet that they respect those that signed on behalf of the Beis Din more than those who signed against them.
Make of that whatever you wish.

    4. It’s the opposite. The fact that the tzibur ignored the anti beis havaad letters is not because of lack of kavod for the signatories, rather out of the understanding that the signatories are a da’as yachid or minority opinion, even though they were the loudest. Add to that the very real assumption that the facts were NOT correctly presented to them, and you get a full on ignoring.
R’ Hirsch, on the other hand, is NOT a da’as ya hid - he is the establishment opinion in Israel whether you like it or not. Add tm that the fact that it is well known to go through everything himself down to the last detail, and you have yourself a royal bizayon by closed minded individuals

    5. No one ignored it, the BD is not functioning as it used to

    6. I disagree. I think the reason the beis havaad is flourishing is not because the people don’t respect the ones who tried to ban it. It’s because they k ow (either factually or intuitively) that they are extremely prone to being controlled by those around them.
In fact, those around the main signatory against the beis havaad are those behind these nasty papers against Reb Moshe Hillel, with the aforementioned gadol being dragged to “shout” at Reb Moshe Hillel.
The same people who know the truth in the underlying case that the beis havaad is being pummeled for, also see through the anti Reb Moshe Hillel posters.

    7. Bla bla typical one sided argument that can be said about either side
Try again no one falling for this propaganda of blaming it on those around the gedolim. You are being mevazeh talmidei chachomin by insinuating that they don't know what's going on

    8. I wish it were true that the beis havaad is not functioning as it used to. Unfortunately I know first hand trying to schedule another session with them that it’s extremely busy, and when I got frustrated the secretary actually showed me the schedule. There are gittin almost every day and multi million dollar din Torahs. Olem golem. Nothing to do about it.

    9. I tried to get a date in the Beis Havaad and they were very busy.
But true to their reputation, they found a slot for me.

They are doing very well. Only a fool doesn't go to them because of the tumult. If you want a resolution to your issues, with minimum fuss and distraction, they are the address.

    10. it will have to be redone according the letter against the baisdin as they are not considered a maaseh beis din

    11. Anon 2:47 - people don't like blaming talmidei chachamim for the terrible things that emerge from their pens. So they use a derech kavod and blame the people around them. But everyone knows the sad truth here.

    12. The BD is not functioning, the kollel empty and depressed, most of their yungerleit spent their time posting comments on hefkervelt and the like. Sad.

    13. Anon 3:23 sounds desperate.
When a maaracha failed miserably, its members crashing in a תמות נפשי עם פלשתים matzav, and the targets of the maaracha are no worse than before, they can pretend that they won.

Yes, bullies forced the Beis Din to sign that they are willing to go for a diyun by people who are less than them. But no diyun took place, no diyun will take place, and the Beis Din is as before.

When you get divorced, try another way and tell us how it worked out, whose fault was it that things were shlepped and time was wasted on shtussim.

      Delete
    14. Fake argument. The three dayanim involved in the mess are no longer practicing. No diyun took place because bais havaad realized a diyun would expose the incompetence behind their facade and refused to hand over their records of the case - which probably don't exist in the first place - after the agree to. Bais havaad's name is permanently tarnished. When you get divorced hopefully your wife will be smart enough to use a real bais din to be able to remarry and hopefully will have better luck the second time.
The old addage still rings true wherever "he" walks the grass won't grow. Bais havaad had so much potential, shame the one ruins everything he touches, couldn't stop touching bais havaad.

      Delete
    15. Where did the bais havaad come in here?

Some lowlives made pashkevillen, probably the same ones as those who are running the anti-beis havaad campaign. But what does one have to do with the other? Are they connected at all?

      Delete
    16. @!7:01 probably! are they connected? maybe the both think, both not afraid to publicize what they think is genuine daas torah, each to his own

  4. I asked a simple question. I find care if they agree with Rav Hirsch or not. I'm asking how is it that they don't protest such a bizayon Hatorah in the Ir Hatorah?

    1. You don't protest every little stupidity just because the click bate fake frum news media in Lakewood decided to report it and be outraged about it.
The roshei yeshiva welcomed RMH at the kabolas panim..

    1. No one has said that everyone accepts the bill. The issue here is whether we should tolerate those who are mevazeh, with the ugliest and most dangerous words, those Gedolim who do.
