- Lakewood Township Committee Meeting Recap
At last night’s Lakewood Township Committee meeting, members approved all items listed on the agenda.
During public comment, only one member of the public spoke up and raised concerns about the accessibility of the Township’s virtual meetings. The resident noted that logging in to watch or participate online is not user-friendly and urged the administration to post a direct, easily visible link on the Township’s website. Although the mayor has repeatedly emphasized that virtual meetings allow greater public participation, residents continue to report difficulty accessing the sessions. Community members also pointed out that many Lakewood residents have limited or no internet access, as reflected in the consistently low turnout typically only one or two public comments per meeting.

Despite having recently won re-election, Committeeman Isaac Ackerman did not receive formal congratulations from the committee. The mayor did, however, acknowledge the large turnout at the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce dinner earlier in the week , where Committeeman Menashe Miller serves as President and Chairman.

- Giyus: A group of Litvishe poskim headed by Rav Moshe Sternbuch shlita, issued a firm halachic ruling rejecting the government’s proposed draft law that includes enlistment targets for the chareidi community. They stated it is forbidden to agree to any legislation that mandates the conscription of yeshiva students, including those not learning diligently. The rabbonim stressed that the law must exempt all who consider Torah their full-time occupation, insisting that no clause obligating any chareidi individual to army service can be accepted. They added that even if such a law would spare many diligent learners, “one may not push off one soul for another.” see letter below.

Ciatteralli 42.7%

- Toms River:  A Township Council majority rejected Mayor Daniel Rodrick's attempt to change how the Toms River's government operates on Nov. 12, with Council President Justin D. Lamb joining three frequent critics of the mayor to reject plans to abolish the Toms River Municipal Utilities Authority and limit the council's powers.(APP)

- Axios: NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has spoken privately with several Democratic governors about how to take on President Trump and tackle other priorities.

- Iranian forces have taken control of the Marshall Islands–flagged tanker Talara, according to a United States defense official. The ship left Ajman in the United Arab Emirates carrying high-sulfur gasoil and was heading toward Singapore when it was intercepted and directed into Iranian waters

-Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill delivered a short farewell speech to Congress, announcing that she will resign from her U.S. House seat next week. The four-term Democrat is stepping down as she prepares to become New Jersey’s 57th governor on January 20.

- Trump: The Democrats are doing everything in their withering power to push the Epstein Hoax again, despite the DOJ releasing 50,000 pages of documents, in order to deflect from all of their bad policies and losses, especially the SHUTDOWN EMBARRASSMENT, where their party is in total disarray, and has no idea what to do. Some Weak Republicans have fallen into their clutches because they are soft and foolish. Epstein was a Democrat, and he is the Democrat’s problem, not the Republican’s problem! Ask Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, and Larry Summers about Epstein, they know all about him, don’t waste your time with Trump. I have a Country to run!

- Trump claims Democrats are promoting an “Epstein hoax” to distract from the shutdown and other failures. He says he will ask A.G. Pam Bondi, the DOJ, and the FBI to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s relationships with figures such as Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, and major financial institutions. He argues the situation is another politically motivated scam similar to “Russia, Russia, Russia,” asserting that records show these individuals spent significant time with Epstein.

  10. So Rav Abramsky, the Chazon Ish, and Rav Shach were all wrong. All those who taught that we should work on freeing bnei Torah from the draft and not waste our clout on people who aren't learning all got it wrong.
We know that the rule in galus is צאי לך בעקבי הצאן, we follow our gedolim of previous generations, who all worked strongly to free yeshiva bochurim, and only yeshiva bochurim, from the Israeli army. Not all charedim. We first work for women, then Yeshiva bochurim and yungeleit.
