- Elan Kornblum of the GKRF facebook group was at SEARED restaurant in Lakewood and wrote a long post describing the past 10 months and how they have come up with a new spring menu and lowered the prices.
They removed some of the items that were "too out of the box" for some, increased the portion for many, even added some dishes that are kid friendly and dramatically reduced the pricing on almost every item, some by 25%. This is very important that people spread this. I went line by line over the menu with the manager (I was there all night last night) and prices are same or less than other high end restaurants. ...

He discuses in detail the viral $7000 bill that went around social media causing a bad reputation to thr new establishment giving the background to it It happen to be a table of 14 guys who went all out. I'm talking ordering several of each item, over a dozen cocktails, 3 very expensive bottles of wine (including to the point where some of the men may have been inebriated). They also ordered tons of mains. .... And yes, some of these steaks were in the hundreds.

The post continues:
Let's quickly mention some other rumors that went around.
Rumor: The restaurant was recently sold.
Fact: It's totally false, he has no idea where that came from. He was the owner on Day 1, he is the owner today and with Hashem's help and your support he will be the owner for years to come. He is committed to this restaurant.
Rumor: People have said they can't sit for more than 90 minutes. Fact: Again, he doesn't understand where this came from. That's never been a policy of theirs and maybe it was a misunderstanding. They apologize if anyone felt rushed, the restaurant has 200 seats, they hope to fill it up, but no one should ever be rushed.
OK, so there is a lot here already, and there is more we discussed and we didn't even get to the details of the food, which should really be the focus, and we'll get to that in a future post.
But I just want to conclude with something I speak often in my speeches and talks. Social media has the power to do amazing things, we see it on this group every day, with helping others, sharing beautiful things, but we don't realize the destruction that negative, hateful words can cause. That bill, those whispers between other people gossiping and ruining someone's reputation almost literally caused the restaurant to close. Come check out the place for yourself before making any decision.I'm sure you all going to try it out again and you will be returning again and again.
And please, if anyone has any issue, feedback, advice, speak directly to the owner, let them hear it directly from you. It can be in person, by message, through a middleman like me. We all want restaurants to succeed, we want them to remain open, we're all on the same side, let's try to help them. Thank you. Link

  1. BTW it is NOT the minhag of Satmar to make bonfires on Lag BaOmer . Remember Satmar detests any new customs or variations from what was always done

    1. what was always done? how old do you think satmar chasidus is? just being a satmar chasid means you are doing something new that wasn't always done.

  5. This Hallmark of shitas Satmar SHOULD also have included the ban of the ridiculous newfangeled shtriemels which are so ridiculously outrageous!!
It has moved from a holy Chassidus to a "trendy" (LOL), snobby high society culture. Nothing to do anymore with Yiddishkiet.

    1. Says the guy wearing the Borsalino, Designer suits, shoes, shirts and belt. You may not agree, but are you really in a position to knock the entire satmar?

  8. Are they planning on doing an Adirei HaTorah event every year now? After a while, going to a stadium loses it's allure.

How many times should I schlep through traffic to celebrate the freezer system?

  11. Besides most yungeleit don’t need so much money. They already get programs, support, all the pre yt perks for “klei kodesh” free vacations with water parks and all and their wives work making a decent income. It’s a myth that yungeleit and rebbeim are so poor. Some are but many are not and in many cases they are better off than your average middle class guy who has no programs, zero assistance, doesn’t even take vacation and pays full tuition.
