Our justice system has endured for nearly 250 years, and it is literally the cornerstone of America. Our justice system should be respected, and we should never allow anyone to tear it down. It's as simple as that."

"A lot of people have predicted it because the public understands what's going on.
Donald Trump vowed Friday to appeal his conviction on all counts in his New York City hush money trial. He denounced the guilty verdict as a "scam" and insisted that his team would appeal "on several things," including allegations that the court blocked the Trump camp's most crucial witnesses.

“This is still the weakest case I’ve ever seen in 60 years. The fact that the jury convicted based on false instructions, wrong instructions, based on the jurors having been between 85 and 90 percent picked from a veneer that hates Trump and doesn’t want him to be president, the fact that the jury convicted doesn’t make this case any stronger or any better,” Dershowitz said. “I was recently just 15 minutes ago on with The Times of London and they were saying, ‘Well, doesn’t the fact that the jury convicted prove it was a strong case?’ No, no! It proves that it was of a case that was brought in a jurisdiction where a conviction was almost assuredly guaranteed.”

Biden Outlines 3-Phase Ceasefire Proposal
Time for this war to end’: Biden lays out hostage-ceasefire deal, tells Hamas to accept it
US President Joe Biden clarifies that “Israel will always have the right to defend itself against threats to its security and to bring those responsible for October 7 to justice.”
“The United States will always ensure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself.”
“If Hamas fails to uphold to its commitments under the deal, Israel can resume military operations. But Egypt and Qatar have assured me they are continuing to work to ensure that Hamas doesn’t do that,” he says.
Biden urges Israelis to accept plan, and Israel’s leaders to stick with it, blasts talk of ‘total victory’

“The United States will help ensure that Israel lives up to their obligations as well.”

The First Phase of the Deal would involve a Total Ceasefire followed by the Complete Withdrawal of Israeli Forces from the Populated Areas of the Gaza Strip over a Six-Week Period, during which Negotiation with Hamas will continue until the beginning of Phase 2.

The Second Phase would include a Permanent End to Hostilities between the Israel Defense Force and Hamas, as well as the Release of any remaining Live Hostages by Hamas.

The Third and Final Stage of the Deal would return Total Control over the Gaza Strip to Palestinian Authorities, also known as Hamas, and would see the Bodies of all the Deceased Hostages being Released.

Making a Chasuna During Sefira After Lag Baomer

Recently more and more weddings are taking place during the 2nd half of sefira it was not so long ago  ago that  weddings did not take place between Lag Baomer and Shavuos. It was always more common to make weddings from after Pesach up to Rosh Chodesh Iyar.  The trend has changed and currently wedding halls have been busy during the second half of sefira after lag Baomer. The main factor is the lack of  availability to book a hall and set a wedding date during the busy chasuna season after shavuos. A long engagement is standard by chasidim but not in the yeshiva circles. (Chasidim have an option to plan a wedding and book a hall a 9 months to (or a year) in advance).  A 4 months engagement is now common for a chosson kallah that get engaged in February/March (after The freezer opens) and are first getting married after shavuos.

Years ago in Baltimore there was a lack of Chasuma halls and it was hard to find a wedding date.  Rav Moshe  Heineman shlita ruled that you can make weddings during sefira after Lag baomer, something that was not done prior to that. Some Roshei yeshiva will not be mesader kiddushin though, during sefira.

Rav Moshe Feinstein (Igros 159) He explains that the prohibition of getting married during Sefira belongs only to the chosson and kallah and when they are permitted to marry, others are permitted to

The request for instructions by the jury  is particularly interesting. "This Administration never supports anything we do until we do it," a senior Israeli official told The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Thursday. The WSJ editorial highlighted what it called “Israel's successful evacuation” of 950,000 civilians from Rafah, Gaza, despite months of opposition from the Biden Administration. As the evacuation succeeded, the Biden Administration shifted its narrative, according to WSJ, claiming Israel had updated its plans to incorporate US concerns.

- Elan Kornblum of the GKRF facebook group was at SEARED restaurant in Lakewood and wrote a long post describing the past 10 months and how they have come up with a new spring menu and lowered the prices.
They removed some of the items that were "too out of the box" for some, increased the portion for many, even added some dishes that are kid friendly and dramatically reduced the pricing on almost every item, some by 25%. This is very important that people spread this. I went line by line over the menu with the manager (I was there all night last night) and prices are same or less than other high end restaurants. ...

He discuses in detail the viral $7000 bill that went around social media causing a bad reputation to thr new establishment giving the background to it It happen to be a table of 14 guys who went all out. I'm talking ordering several of each item, over a dozen cocktails, 3 very expensive bottles of wine (including to the point where some of the men may have been inebriated). They also ordered tons of mains. .... And yes, some of these steaks were in the hundreds.

The post continues:
Let's quickly mention some other rumors that went around.
Rumor: The restaurant was recently sold.
Fact: It's totally false, he has no idea where that came from. He was the owner on Day 1, he is the owner today and with Hashem's help and your support he will be the owner for years to come. He is committed to this restaurant.
Rumor: People have said they can't sit for more than 90 minutes. Fact: Again, he doesn't understand where this came from. That's never been a policy of theirs and maybe it was a misunderstanding. They apologize if anyone felt rushed, the restaurant has 200 seats, they hope to fill it up, but no one should ever be rushed.
OK, so there is a lot here already, and there is more we discussed and we didn't even get to the details of the food, which should really be the focus, and we'll get to that in a future post.
But I just want to conclude with something I speak often in my speeches and talks. Social media has the power to do amazing things, we see it on this group every day, with helping others, sharing beautiful things, but we don't realize the destruction that negative, hateful words can cause. That bill, those whispers between other people gossiping and ruining someone's reputation almost literally caused the restaurant to close. Come check out the place for yourself before making any decision.I'm sure you all going to try it out again and you will be returning again and again.
And please, if anyone has any issue, feedback, advice, speak directly to the owner, let them hear it directly from you. It can be in person, by message, through a middleman like me. We all want restaurants to succeed, we want them to remain open, we're all on the same side, let's try to help them. Thank you. Link

Shaving On Friday When Lag Ba'omer Falls Out on Sunday

When Lag Ba'omer falls out on motzei Shabbos shaving permitted on Friday erev shabbos
(For reference only, contact your LOR for psak)

Since Lag B’Omer, this year falls on Sunday, May 26, 2024 (18 Iyar,5784) one is permitted to get a haircut and shave on Friday erev shabbos , May 24, in honor of shabbos, according to the Ra''ma. However, according to many, it is Assur to shave or take a haircut on Motzei Shabbos  (Rama"h in Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim 493:2)

This is also the view of Maharika”sh (Oholei Yaakov 98), quoted in Yabi’a Omer, (vol. 6, Orach Chaim 47). However, Kaf Hachaim (O.C. 493: note 32) writes that those who follow the opinion of the Mechaber and do not have a haircut until day 34 of the Omer, may not take a haircut until Monday (this year)

Some poskim debate if it is preferable to take a haircut after chatzos on Friday. (Halichos Snlomo Moadim 2 pg 364) Rav Boruch Mordechai Zilberberg posek in Bnei Brak wrote this year that he heard from Rav A. L Shteinman, that according to the Rama one can already take a haircut Thursday night.

The Levush says this is only in places where you wouldn't be able to get a haircut on Sunday because all the shops are closed for the Christian holiday. Perforce then we have to let you get it early.
