שבר על שבר רחמיך תעורר כי לקינו בכפליים
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rabbi Yisroel Meir Yagen z”l of Lakewood, NJ. Reb Yisroel battled illness for years, displaying great strength and fortitude during the difficult period.
Reb Yisroel was a truly choshuve yungerman, who grew in Torah and avodah his father is Rav Yosef Yagen a Rosh yeshiva in Monsey and very active in kiruv across the world. He had the support of his devoted wife, Malka Rochel, a daughter of Rav and Rebbetzin Gershon Ribner. Rav Gershon is the rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Nesivos Hatorah and a noted marbitz Torah. Rebbetzin Ribner is a daughter of Rav Shneur Kotler zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, and a granddaughter of Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l, founder of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood.
In addition to his yegiah in limud haTorah, Reb Yisroel was a ne’im hamiddos, who was beloved by everyone who knew him. He had a tremendous lev tov and would extend himself for others in any way he could.
Reb Yisroel’s petirah comes just two weeks after the passing of his wife’s illustrious grandmother, Rebbetzin Rischel Kotler a”h.
The passing of Reb Yisroel has plunged his family and the extended Torah community into mourning.
The levayah will take place today at 12 pm at Beth Medrash Govoha, located at 617 Sixth Street in Lakewood, NJ, followed by kevurah in Eretz Yisroel.
Umachah Hashem dimah me’al kol ponim.
