Safe with Sefer Torah inside stolen from Lakewood Yeshiva over shabbos

Lakewood police are investigating after it was discovered that a safe containing a sefer Torah was stolen from Cheder Toras Zev in Lakewood over the weekend. Investigators are not sure if the thieves knew what was inside the safe anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities.

Matzav.com- It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Moshe Yechezkel Kramer z”l of Monsey. He was 65 years old.
Rav Moshe Yechezkel passed away two weeks after he was seriously injured in an accident in Lakewood. 
On Friday night of Shabbos Parshas Vayechi, he was was walking home from shul on Route 9 near Finchley Road in Lakewood, NJ, when he was struck by a vehicle. He suffered many fractures and went into cardiac arrest. Rav Moshe Yechezkel is remembered as a kind and sweet individual, a talmid chochom, and a friend to so many.

Question: Living in Lakewood New Jersey it is not uncommon to see many young boys hitchhiking. I feel uncomfortable about picking them up for safety reasons. On the other hand, is it rude not to give these boys without transportation a lift? Thirdly, people who do pickup hitchhikers often block other cars and cause traffic.

Lakewood family thanks NJSP trooper a year after he helped deliver their baby

Posted on NJSP FB page- Not every trooper will deliver a baby roadside in their career. And for those who do, very few ever reunite with mom, dad, and baby. But on Friday, January 20, Sgt. Sean Boag got a chance to be with the family again, under much better conditions!

NWS: Storm to intensity

The nor'easter storm moving into the region is expected to intensify through the afternoon, causing dangerous high winds and coastal flooding . Expect Power outages, falling trees and heavy rain. Snow and sleet in northern areas. Hurricane force winds along the coast.

Rt 88, Lakewood Road Construction

LPD-On or about January 23, 2017 the New Jersey American Water Company will be installing a new water main on Route #88 to replace the current one to provide better service to the community. The project will start at the railroad tracks just east of Monmouth / Railroad Avenues and continue east towards the Ocean County Park. The project is expected to be completed in May of 2017 and will be installed during the evening hours of 8:00 pm to 6:00am to lessen the impact and inconvenience to the community. During the project only the immediate area of construction will close Rt. #88, but a detour has been set up for all wide loads, tractor trailers, transit buses and non local traffic to avoid the area via a bypass of South Clifton Avenue to Cedarbridge Avenue to New Hampshire Avenue back onto Route #88.

NWS: High wind warning for Jersey sore

The coming storm will be accompanied by strong and potentially damaging high winds today and tonight. Winds will be from the east at 30 to 40 miles per hour, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour. The warning will remain in effect until 9 p.m. tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

"The strongest winds are expected to occur during the day Monday," the NWS says. "Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Scattered to numerous power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles."

Fire at Lakewood Mesivta

A fire broke out Friday night at around 7:30 pm at the Lakewood Mesivta on w Kennedy Blvd in Lakewood. The Mesivta is headed by Rav Yossel Burzstyn shlita. The fire apparently started due to an electrical failure in the basement. No one was hurt B''H, unfortunately Some pairs of Tefilin were burned R''L. The yeshiva boys were sent home on shabbos and the building is closed while officials investigate.
