- NJ Gov. Mikie Sherrill signed an executive order Monday aimed at addressing the Garden State’s housing crisis. The order,directs state agencies to work together to make housing more available and affordable for residents. The order sets three deadlines. By June 11, the Housing Governing Council must be up and running. By June 27, all state agencies must submit written reports to the Governor's Office identifying ways to speed up home construction, build on state-owned land, and remove unnecessary red tape. By Sept. 24, the council must issue recommendations on five issues

"The shopper reached out to local and county officials, who confirmed that there was no record of the island being planned and no approvals for it to be there. They were at a loss to explain why or how it got there.
After much urging and pressuring from The Shopper, the island was removed, thus allowing traffic to flow naturally again. It is unfortunate that uncoordinated and irresponsible road work could lead to such a potentially dangerous mishap."

- The Lakewood School District says it may have to lay off 162 teachers’ aides as it grapples with major financial pressures and a proposed state takeover. District officials said paraprofessional benefits currently cost nearly $6.4 million annually.The existing contract with teachers’ aides expires June 30. As part of upcoming negotiations, the district said it will explore staffing changes aimed at maintaining services while reducing long-term benefit costs. ReplyDeleteThe blood drive is seemingly not being promoted by the Bikur Cholim. It's important to note that donating blood to a blood bank has ramifications in Halacah and one would be best advised to ask their posek. Pashkvillen or proclamations are not reliable.

ReplyDeleteThe island was totally 100% approved. It was in the plans. Lakewood township is doing this project. The county approved it. Now there is egg on its face and they are saying it was 'just' constructed. Did such a construction ever happen? No the contractor just doesnt spend $100,000's to construct something because oh it would look good here. It was 100% approved and paid for by Lakewood. This island and sidewalk project is costing Lakewood taxpayers $1.4 million dollars.
