- New Jersey residents are seeing sharp increases in their 2026 health-insurance premiums, with many couples on GetCovered NJ reporting about $500 more per month. The biggest cause is the expiration of enhanced federal tax credits that had kept premiums lower in recent years. Some households, in Lakewood, are experiencing sticker shock and looking into cheaper alternatives like health-share plans.
New Jersey is expanding its New Jersey Health Plan Savings (NJHPS) program to help offset the increases. The state offers $20–$100 per person each month in additional subsidies for households earning up to 600% of the federal poverty level. While these subsidies help, they cannot fully replace the larger federal credits that are ending, so many families will still face higher costs.

The MUA is giving us ANOTHER RAISE? They keep doing this again and again and again! Stop the bleeding.. Nobody told the Board members to give themselves fat salary and benefits increases at our expense.
ReplyDeleteThey get away with it cause NJAW is more expensive..
DeleteThe NJAWC is owned by a publicly traded company that aims to return huge dividends to its investors. It is a totally for-profit business. On the other hand, the local LTMUA is a government entity owned by the tax payers. It's goal is not to turn a handsome profit, but to make sure it can cover its legitimate expenses (including replacing and/or adding infrastructure) and balance its budget - which should also allow for some financial cushion.
DeleteBut the way these commissioners seem to be treating the Board they serve on is as if it's a quasi-for-profit entity. It's all very disturbing to the residents that have to pay more, in order to cover the salaries & benefits these commissioners award to themselves.
Whats the background to the patchkavil that was hanging all over lakewood this shabbos?

Delete11 years later.......and nobody remembers.
DeleteCrazy stuff. Where have I been all these years?? Now the reaction to the other story makes much more sense.
DeleteThe foolish thing is, this case can be resolved very simply, if the wife were told to listen to the only authorized Bet Din, that even she signed for (till certain rabbonim told her to ignore it.)
DeleteAnon 9:27,
DeleteYour link is for only chassidishe poiskim. Do you have any litvishe poiskim from the oilam hatorah to quote and link to?
I found a better link than anon 9:27 here's the full case. Simply unbelievable.

DeleteI remember many many more signatures across the spectrum. Who has that file?
DeleteThe background to this pashkevill is the same as the background to every pashkevill.
DeleteReb Shalom Schwadron would describe a scene in a shtiebel in Yerushalayim:
A man walks in and announces, "Rabosai, I just found a really sharp passuk."
A second person calls out, "I have ten pounds extra."
The third says, "I have thought of a pirtza."
And a pashkevill is produced.
Thank you @12:19pm!!!!

ReplyDeleteLet’s see how tough Avi Schnall is. Will he go after mayor Ray Coles, Menashe Miller, and the “big boys” in the Lakewood MUA for repeatedly raising rates on residents? Schnall has said he would take on NJ American Water to prevent quick rate hikes well, now the issue is in his own backyard. The Lakewood MUA, appointed by the township committee, is raising rates again, impacting residents. Will Schnall stand up to them and demand an immediate stop?
ReplyDeleteWe already know the answer. A bunch of fake promises and fake threats.
DeleteWhat does Schnall have to do with local politics? He deals with issue on the State level, and NJAWC is a State-level problem. You gotta chill.
DeleteIf you don't like the the local polo's, then replace them before they take even more of your money away.
He'll do the same as every government agency does (NJ NY bridges, NYC congestion pricing, NJ turnpike, GSP etc).
DeleteThey'll reduce the hike to $20-40, spread it out over a few years at a higher rate, and announce he saved us $50 instead of the $200 originally proposed.
All the gvirim will hail him, cause they still get their nursing home raises.
Schnall has no control over local politics. The Vaad has & had full control for the last 25 years. If you have an issue with local government, speak to a Vaad member.
DeleteSchnal can pass a bill to regulate the MUA of townships in NJ he has full control to do so, stop making up stories. He can go after the MUA Just as he can to American Water let's see if he does anything.. oh in 2 years we will hear about high water bills the week before elections
DeleteSchnall is one of 120 State legislators. He can't just pass bills.
DeleteOh really so you admit that Schnal has zero power to pass anything the tuition scam realy had no chance..
DeleteSo what did we have to put a frum yid in Trenton and raitz uhn if there's no power
Fix the Formula
ReplyDeleteHealth care is going throught the roof, Utilities are increasing tremendously, RE taxes are high and higher is anyone representing us? Only once a week before elections do they tune in to us and most fools continute to vote with their recomendations.
ReplyDeleteI dont feel this tone of attacking our representatives who are frum people is correct, we are an Ir Hatorah- the Yerushalayim of America and when people read this and say look at how the frum run their town with cronyism it makes them think we are corrupt.
ReplyDeleteThey chose to take these positions now if they abuse it and raise taxes and fees and they get paid they deserve all the criticism sorry
DeleteLight is the best disinfectant
Delete12:48 That it is one of the reasons I felt so strongly that Schnall should not have ran to begin with. Politics is a dirty business that frequently lead to fights. Why drag the frum oilem into it by having a frum representative who we were told to have high expectations from?
DeleteApparently Aldi, Shoprite, Walmart, Target, Trader Joes. All charging less than 4.00 a bag of 3 heads of Romaine..
ReplyDeleteBut the frum stores even bingo are charging more than double
DeleteThe other stores have yearly contracts for these items, so they are at a fixed price even if market price fluctuates.
Delete1:25 -- no, the heimishe stores can get away with higher prices.
DeleteLakewood sheep will continue to buy from the expensive stores, no matter what. (Just like they continue to vote for vaad candidates.)
Who has a copy of the rav dovid feinstein letter about pasul yichus?
DeleteOf course, no such letter exists.
DeleteBut some people think we are really stupid, and that Reb Dovid paskend mamzerus between his appetizer and the soup at an Agudah dinner.
There is clear testimony that any child born from that illict union is a vaday mamzer, no silly spin will get you out of it. See it here:
Deletehttps://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgM0KTdefDX-6YiaFPsHZe_QH-zh600lE4Pa-FjWjf_ST0Kk-tzoH_YousJeVSlJMlT0nZJLgQ0yujNZirz_7aTpUuve4D0W2jm1-WeftsT7UTQ__VusI2gXh1BistJS5zhDfeAcdckkKYnwCz8fNLy9rmUGv8B_UcheUuTJBahyBwIuTyGxZ04LRgHdJs/s3504/rottenberg-1.jpeg
Some commentor is stupid enough to think we'll believe Rav Dovid pasken an entire mamzer shailah between eating salmon on greens and cream of asparagus soup. But we're not fools, the psak was two months prior after a long and very thorough din torah. And two months later, a point from the psak was repeated when asked at the agudah dinner. It's not rocket science.
DeleteSo now the heterim camp became pro-mamzers and is denying what RDF paskened?
DeletePeople believe what they want to believe.
DeleteAnd then they reinterpret the facts.
Reb Dovid did not make a single public statement, and everyone thinks they know what he said. Those that decided not to like the Philadelphia Rosh Yeshiva told themselves one thing, and those that like him told themselves something else.
As the letter states, there was no need for a public statement at that time therefore none was made, now that sadly there is a need, what rav dovid and rav hillel said privately is being publicized. There's a time for quiet and there's a time to speak.
DeleteIt's utter paranoia to believe someone's like or dislike of the Philadelphia Rosh Yeshiva's involvement in the bittul kidushin saga will determines how Rav Dovid paskind.
DeleteAn immature child is someone who takes every opinion challenged as a personal slight. וד"ל
DeleteThe real Satmar Rebbe use to put on a Yerushalmi levush in EY. Why doesn't his nephew son do the same??
ReplyDeleteBecause unlike his great uncle, he's not the Rav of yerushalayim.
DeleteThe previous rebbe was the rav of Yerushalayim now they are split as evident in the Eidah charedis split so at most he should wear a half yerushalmi cafton
DeleteThe badatz split?
DeleteWe ARE corrupt!!!! Lol
ReplyDeleteWhy do they call R Shternbach the Gaved Yerushalayim, that position today is vacant??
ReplyDelete
