Interview on headlines radio show with Rabbi Shlomo Perr the Rav of Berditchev shul in Lakewood. Listen at Minute 67:13
We are not different than any other shul every shul is unique and people are attracted to the shul based on its charachter, In particular Barditchev is unique as we try to create a atmosphere of Joy and simcha we have a nice mix of youngeleit and Bochurim from BMG, Rebbeim, colored shirts, shtreimlich, Pony tails, everyone feels at home and we create a welcoming feeling because you come to daven and be with us in shul. All shuls are welcoming and people feel comfortable but here we are shaveh lechol nefesh. Thursday night tehillim for shidduchim, there is a good feeling throughout the week. A very Geshmakeh place.
Might want to ask some of the neighbors if they feel the same way, or if they feel that the Shul cares about their feelings in any way too.
ReplyDeleteYa, I know the neighbors don't like seeing people with colored shirts. Seeing a ponytail traumatizes them as well. Shame they're not more tolerant...
DeleteWow, that's very judgmental and dismissive of you.
DeleteDid those "concerned" neighbors speak up when the area was spot zoned to allow duplexes??
DeleteOr is it only because they don't like that the Shul is "shaveh l'chol nefesh "??
I'm not sure what one thing has to do with the other, and again, you seem to be projecting your feelings onto others and being judgmental and dismissive of the concerns of other yidden.
